Garuda The PSU culture won't go away

I am a bpl user. I wanted a second phone to call people since BPL charges were steadily increasing. out of curiosity I purchased a garuda mobile in Mumbai. it sounded great since in rs 399 per month I was getting unlimited mtnl network calls. Sms were cheaper. Now the problems 1. u need to go to their customer service centre , fill in a form, goive id and pay but the phone is delivered after 5 to 10 days later at home! the instrument is Kyocera with camera. there is no choice BUT the instrument they have.


This Kyocera phone is such a horrible device I mean there is no standard function which all cell phones have and navigating is horrible. I was managing and lo behold I lost my phone! I was told to go thro the standard police procedure to get a new phone.


I went today with the police certificate to get another instrument and was shocked to see that the MTNL offices are closed from thursday to Monday! Diwali and then 2nd saturday and then..customers go to hell! If you read papers MTNL is losing profit and customers for last 6 quarters steadily, you now understand why! I think Garuda is a great service and should have done really well but the PSU culture has killed a golden goose. Do not go for it though it is very cheap.
