Story:

Five Point Someone - What not to do at IIT, is a novel about three boys who join IIT Delhi and try to cope with the heavy workload of the institute.

An extremely fun-filled book with easy language, and the most important thing is it's relation to the real world. For the Engineering students, mainly for those staying in hostels, this book is a treasure.

The book does not tell us about managing a seat in the IIT nor it writes about the pros and cons of studying in an IIT. The author seems to be actually concerned about what to do after getting an admission into an IIT. Through the story of three friends, the book describes the various facets of life in IIT – the academics, the professors, the campus life, falling in love, and the "rat race".

"What happens when you don't study, being in one of the most prestigious educational institution? What happens when we do not know our aims and objectives during the academics? What happens when we fall in love…while in the college? And what happens if that too with a professor's daughter?" We may be getting some of our most adorable answers here.

While reading the book, you will go through the instances when a student modifies a screw jack when asked to design one and the conversation follows something like this:

“What is this?”

“Sir, this modified screw-jack, It can be attached to the car’s battery…”

“Is this an electrical engineering class?”

“No sir but the end need is the same…”

“Is this an internal combustion engines class?”

“Sir but…”

“If you don’t want to be in my class or follow my course, you may leave.”

I read this book in 2004 end and still it lies afresh in my mind today. This is the first book written by author Chetan Bhagat. The book costs around 100 bucks.

To know more and take part in the fun, do read the book.

Cheers!
