There's Something Missing In My Heart

What is She like?

If someone said She looks like Aishwarya Rai, has an hourglass figure, hazel eyes and auburn hair, someone lied.

'She' can be beautified in a single word - simplicity. People say they fall in love. Some of them mean it. Others are the ones who simply suffer from obsession. In my case, I thank God that I have enough wisdom to say that I am not obsessed with Her. I truly love her.

I have a good reason to say that my feeling is much stronger than mere infatuation. I met Her when I was fifteen, a little more than two years ago. Back then; I was in the 10th Std. In that year, and even before that, I had had many crushes but as I said before, I had the wisdom to conclude that it was just lipstick and make-up.

But after I met Her, the feeling was stronger than it had ever been. This girl is different. If I say She is beautiful, it would most certainly be an understatement. The word'beautiful' is too earthly for someone like her. You might be thinking that I am calling her a nymph. But that doesn't count either. She has a physical grace about her, which makes her detached from even the paradise.

Friends, remember the film'Mohabbatein'*ing Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan? SRK plays a music teacher in the film. There is a dialogue which makes quite an impact:'Mohabbat aur sangeet ka bahut gehra rishta hai. Dono ki shuruat dil se hoti hai.' Very true. Music and love are indeed related closely. They are things which cannot be defined in words, and yet the simplest ones to understand.

What follows is a list of some of the masterpieces of Western music?songs that make me think of Her.

  1. Careless Whisper - George Michael

(Time can never mend careless whispers of a good friend

I'm never gonna dance again, guilty feet have got no rhythm,

though it's easy to pretend, I know you're not a fool.

Should've known better than to cheat a friend, and waste the chance that I've been given,

so I', never gonna dance again, the way I danced with you)

This is a massive hit from George Michael's'Wham!' album.

Although I have never danced with Her, I often feel guilty when confronting her. Somehow, I feel I have terribly wronged her by not telling her how much I love her. Silence is my greatest handicap.

  1. Show Me The Meaning - Backstreet Boys

(*Show me the meaning of being lonely; is this the feeling I need to walk with?

Tell me why I can't be there where you are?there?s something missing in my heart. *)

Another smash hit by the Backstreet Boys from the'Millennium' album.

They say, 'Out of sight is out of mind'. Well, that could be true! But even physical distance didn't help me get rid of Her. Last time I met her was after thirteen months, but my love hasn't faded one tiny bit. I still remember her every time I breathe.

  1. I Wanna Hold Your Hand - The Beatles.

(Oh yeah I'll tell you somethin', I think you'll understand'

When I say that somethin', I wanna hold your hand!

And when I touch you I'll feel happy, inside,

It's such a feeling that my love I can have')

The legendary group of Beatles - Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr - composed this hit number in the early 70s.

I gave Her a present once. She shook my hand and looked directly into my eyes. It was at that time that I remembered this song?the effect was electric!

  1. Hero - Enrique Iglesias

(*I can be your hero baby; I can kiss away the pain,

I can stand by you forever; you can take my breath away)

From the Latino star Enrique Iglesias, this song is one of the colossal hits from the best-selling album'Escape'.

It is not as though all I want is to go to movies with Her, date her frequently and write romantic letters. I want to be by her side. I want to give her a shoulder whenever she cries. I want to take care of her when she's sick. I want to be her hero, and her best friend.

  1. Back To Your Heart - Backstreet Boys

(*It's not that I can live without you, It's just that I don't even wanna try.

Every night I dream about you, ever since the day we said goodbye

If I wasn't such a fool, right now I'd be holding you.

There's nothin' I wouldn't do, baby if I only knew:

the words to say, the road to take to find a way back to your heart.

What can I do to get to you and find a way back to your heart)

One of the most beautiful BSB songs, again from'Millennium'. It clearly expresses the desperation of a lonely lover.

This may seem a cliché. But nothing is a cliché when it's happening to you. This is my personal apocalypse.

Sometimes life leads me in directions beyond my control. Things that happen do not make sense. Sometimes I cannot stop my tears. Sometimes nature fails to obey the laws of truth and love.

It is at these times that I think, 'Oh God! What wouldn't I give to have Her by my side! I'd do anything to have her here as my backup.'

No such luck. No luck at all.
