Makdee
It’s a shame that audiences did not go and see this gem of a movie made by Vishal Bharadwaj. And then people crib that Bollywood is not creating good cinema.
Do Aur Do Paanch
This comic thriller of two crooks (Amitabh Bachchan and Shahi Kapoor) did not go down well with our audience when it was first released in the early 1980s. However, of late, it has been repeatedly telecast on the cable channels.
Bemisaal
One of Amitabh’s most underrated performances ever, Bemisaal is the story of love and sacrifice. Human relationships are rarely portrayed as poignantly as they have been here. I am sure Hrishikesh Mukherjee must be proud of his film.
Kagaz Ke Phool
A lot has been written about Guru Dutt’s Kagaz Ke Phool. It flopped then and is considered a classic today. An irony that is very well explored in the movie itself.
Mera Naam Joker
I have seen the movie at least 10 times and am still mesmerized by it. A great film (barring a few moments), Raj Kapoor, like Guru Dutt in Kagaz Ke Phool, tries to explore the creative artist to the fullest. A pity that the film didn’t work.
