I know this article is not about my favorite 5 movies but about Aamir's 5 best but what to do, they happen to be my favorite also. Written in reverse order it follows,
- Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar ke...
I always feel Aamir can portray anything but He is best at comedy. A wonderfully crafted movie from Mahesh Bhatt and excellant performaces by Aamir and Juhie really made this movie hard to forget.Just saw it for the umpteenth time on the cable and still it looked so fresh!!! Just watch this movie for Aamir's reactions to what others do to him. Be it his Bhanjes or Navneet Nishan(of TARA fame) or the crooked Dalip Tahil. A thoroughly enjoyable fare.

Once again Aamir proves his comic touch.This time he is not reactive but makes people react. A complete opposite to what he does int HHRPK. I still cant forget those scenes like the moviehall scene or the hotel one or even the busstand one.RamGopalVerma was at his best and its really sad that two havent worked together after this movie. May be because the combination was too good to be repeated.

A no-nonsense movie about foreign involvement in terrorism in Indian and a one man crusade against that. When I first heard the story I thought Aamir may been miscast by John Mathan because Aamir cant really look the part of an IPS officer. But no, I was proved wrong. The METHOD ACTOR in Aamir was at his best.He had a trumendous adversary in Naseer both in terms of story as well as acting honours. But boy!! Did he overcome that??? Naseer was great but so was Aamir especially in the party scene where he encounters Naseer and when he finds out that Naseer is The Traitor he is looking for. Kudos to you ,Aamir!!

Even though I ve said previously that Aamir is best at comedy but he has also portrayed some serious roles with ease. This was one such case. As a struggling music director whose wife leaves him to become top notch heroine Aamir is A grade. Even Manisha was great in her rather sensetive role.The courtroom scenes or even the scenes between Aamir and his son are excellant. Even though this movie didnt get the best of the treatment by the public but its the highest point in Aamirs career.
- Dil Chahta Hai...
Aamir is very good at springing surprises. After Dhoti clad Bhuvan in Lagaan who would have thought of him as the hip goattee clad in Dil Chahta hai.What a transformation!! Only Aamir can think of taking a risk like that. Ask any other So Called Stars of Indian cinema Can they do it. You ll find the same answer from everybody ''I am not Aamir Khan''.
This is Aamirs way of improving upon his perfection.Getting back to the movie a trumedous script by Farhaan Akhtar meaty roles for all the 3 actors(Actually all 3 would ve won every single award that yr in popular category were it not for Lagaan).Aamir was brilliant in the comedy scenes, The subway scene was hilarious so was the sequence in the night club. Preity acted brilliantly and I think they matched frame by frame in all the scenes they were in.This was the liveliest screen combination since Shahrukh-Kajol in DDLJ or Aamir-Juhie in HHRPK.Wonderful movie it was !! No doubt the best in Aamir's career so far.
Now which ones I was on verge of including but didnt.
Lagaan but I think it was a team effort rather a one man.
JJWS missed by a whisker.Aamir was great in the movie.
Andaaz Apna Apna , Hillariously funny movie the greatest by Raaj Kumar Santoshi comes a close 6th after HHRPK.
Baazi ,Ishq,QSQT, RAAKH,HOLI,Ghulam, Dil hai Kee Maanta Nahi.
