.crooned Bon Jovi not so many moons ago!
And going through this section I was wondering if only songs with a soft melody could be termed as'Love Songs'. And though I never cared too much for the typical love song, I did feel that the Rock Giants had been given a cold shoulder when there are GREAT rock ballads sung by Heavy Metal and Hard Rock Bands which have become Anthems over the years! So here is a list(Part 1 of a possible 3 parts!) of my favourite ballads by Heavy Metal Giants which make for great listening!
(Part 2 will move on to real ROCKing Love Songs and maybe Part 3 will constitute of the 'gentle-on-your-ears' category!:D.but dont ask me when these reamining parts will be online!;))
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
The Baap of all Rock Ballads! Metallica worked with Michael Kamen on this one in early 90's.Considering that Kamen had had a huge hit just prior to this release in'Everything I Do.' with Bryan Adams, this one had to better the unprecedent record set by'Everything I do.'. Listen to this one and you'll know why there can be no better love song! The music is soaring-starting as a lullaby(?) and going on to a crescendo of tight lead guitars.
(Dont worry.none of the songs in this re-vue are'only sound and fury!')
here is a sample of the https://lyrics.
'.So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters.
.Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters.'
More than Words - Extreme-Album - Pornografiti
'.Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn't have to say that you love me
Cos I'd already know.'
I heard this song somewhere and went and bought the album. Only to find out that Extreme was a Metal Band!(those were the days!).Listen to the harmony and you'll wonder if Simon & Garfunkel have re-united again! Incidentally the whole song is acoustic!(Move over MTV Unplugged!)
Since I Dont Have You - G'N R - Album The Spaghetti Incidence
'.I don't have plans and schemes,
And I don't have hopes and dreams.
I, I, I don't have anything,
Since I don't have you.
And I don't have fond desires,
And I don't have happy hours.
I don't have anything,
Since I don't have you.'
The last album as a Band by Guns'N Roses. Supposedly about the influences of the Band. The album bombed but had this beautiful gem. Nice guitar licks by Slash.
Cant Stop Loving You - Van Halen Album-Balance
'.there's a time and place for everything,
for everyone,
we can push with all our might,
but nothing's gonna come oh no,
nothing's gonna change and if I asked you not to try
oh could you let it be
I wanna hold you and say we can't throw this all away
tell me you won't go, you won't go
do you have to hear me say
I can't stop lovin' you and no matter what you say or do you know my heart is true,
oh I can't stop lovin' you .'
Eddie Van Halen is supposedly the biggest lead guitar talent on the Metal Scene. He is so paranoid about people copying him that when he performs live, he always plays the guitar with his back towards the crowd so that no one copies his style!
:D
Overhyped? Check this one and you'll never forget the deadly(and melodious!) riffs!
:)
Patience - G'NR - Album Lies
'.Shed a tear'cause I missin' you
I'm still alright to smile
Girl I think about you ev'ry day now
Was a time when I wasn't sure
But you set my mind at ease
There is no doubt
You're in my heart now
Said woman take it slow
It'll work itself out fine
All we need is just a little patience
Said sugar make it slow and
We come together fine
All we need is just a little patience
Patience.'
The 2nd(or 3rd?) album by G'NR. I was tempted to include'Every Rose has a Thorn' by Poison which is probably played in every pub in the world! But then this is my list right?:)
This one has Axl Rose whistling a beautiful melody. Its all acoustic too. So Bump Ahead!
