The year 2003 comes to an end and it’s that time of the year again to give film awards in dozens with every other film mag coming up with their own awards function. Before all the film magazines attack the awards arena…herez my list on BOLLYWOOD AWARDS 2003.
1.BEST FILM : KOI…MIL GAYA ….without a doubt!! Initially LOC did appear as a stiff competitor but due to its 4 hour running time(phew!!) it has hardly been able to move the audiences, hence now its clear that Koi..Mil Gaya is a sure shot winner. Not only Koi mil gaya is the top grosser at the box-office this year..its also a well made & an entertaining film ..with some awesome performances & good songs.
2.BEST ACTOR : HRITHIK ROSHAN (KOI..MIL GAYA)….yes people…hez back with a bang!! Awesome acting ! He played the character to the hilt. Sunjay Dutt is the next contender for this award for Munnabhai-MBBS….he has managed to tickle the funny bone of the audiences with great ease.Not only that Munnabhai is doing well at the box-office. Sunjay Dutt should win the Critics Award for Best Actor. But but but…things are not simple as they seem….we have a certain King Khan whoz gonna manipulate his level best to fetch awards in this category…so you never know who actually wins this award.
3.BEST ACTRESS : URMILA MATONDKAR( BHOOT) : Bhoot, Pinjar ,Tehzeeb…one outstanding performance after another. Urmila has finally arrived this year. Year 2003 definitely belongs to Urmila. She deserves the best actress award for an amazing performance in Bhoot. But here again…since Koi…Mil Gaya & Kal Ho Naa Ho were the top 2 movies at the box-office this year & they both had one thing common Ms.Preity Zinta….i wont be surprised if Ms.Zingy Zinta goes on to win the Best Actress Award…which she definitely does not deserve.
4.BEST DIRECTOR : RAKESH ROSHAN ( KOI..MIL GAYA)…well made & a well directed movie.
5.BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR : SAIF ALI KHAN (KAL HO NA HO)…the only good thing about Kal Ho Naa Ho. He played his role with gr8 ease & charm.
6.BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS : SHABANA AZMI(TEHZEEB)…though I want her to win…..but I know she wont considering Tehzeeb was a big flop at the box-office. May be everybody’s fave Jayaji(Bachchan ) might win for no reason.
I am not covering the music awards since I love almost all the Hindi film songs. Hopefully some one will carry forward from here and cover the remaining awards. It would be nice to receive your comments & know your opinion on the awards in all the categories. And lastly…………
