When the recent strike of U.S.A and U.K. on Iraq started I had an urge to know the backdrop of the whole event and about Saddam Hussein in detail and the gulf war that took place in early nineties. I could not have found a better source than The Fist of God by Frederick whose books are as good as any other history books(being so well researched) and more interesting than any other thriller (and that makes him my fave author).
This book like all his other books is a page turner till the very end.
About the book:When Iraq invaded Kuwait panic buttons were pressed in many parts of the world. U.S and British intelligence were desperate to gather ground realities from the very heart of Baghdad but were unable to do so ,until they stumbled upon Mike Martin, a British who is an SAS (a british airforce division for special purposes) man and can very easily pass for an Arab. How Mike dodges his way to Iraq and gathers intelligence through Jericho an unidentified mercenary who earlier supplied information to Israel is what the book is about. With this mysterious Jericho he goes on to reveal the devil of a thing which would rain death on the allied forces if and when they invaded Iraq, skilfully concealed by Saddam Hussein known as ''Qubth ut Allah :The Fist of God''
The book is full of surprises till the last page and can be definitely read again and again. The real life characters used (ranging from George Bush,Collin Powell,Margaret Thatcher, and others) shows the research done and the level of genuineness in this piece of fiction.
The review is the same as was originally written. I have just highlighted some of the phrases and made the letters capital wherever it was required on the advice of some of the fellow members.
