Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen?and People who are FED UP with the controversial Film Fare Awards?to the bestEST awards in the whole universe! drums?Welcome to the 2004 ENAOSCARS!! :D

Ok, fine I admit that it?s not very original, but what the heck, since I thought that every Tom, Dick and Harry seems to be in the mood for giving out awards?I thought that what the hell, I?ll join the bandwagon myself!

These awards are of course based on my beliefs and views, so they?ll probably end up being different to yours?but that?s the same with the FilmFare Awards?we may not agree but we surely do watch! :D

I?ll name the category, and where applicable, name the nominees and then ?announce? the winner, explaining my reasons?

There are a limited number of categories, and the Most Popular ones, Best Actor etc are not listed because I believe they get enough coverage anyway.

Without Further Ado?

The DownToEarth Star(Underrated):

The actors/actresses in this category are sidelined when the Director focuses on choosing a star with mass public appeal?the result? The hyped star keeps on gaining popularity, whilst the talent of the small time star goes unnoticed. This award goes to Akshay Khanna, HULCHUL. When he started, he was quite bad?but I don?t know what happened, since the last 2 years, he has given solid performances in all of his movies, regardless of their b.o. success. In Hulchul, he had amazing Comic Timing and yet, he was able to pull off all the intense scenes to near perfection! Rarely do you get an actor so versatile, but sadly, he doesn?t have much of a following, possibly, because he works less with glamour.

The OverValued Movie:

See, I couldn?t decide on the most overrated Star, so I took a Right Turn and ended up with the most overvalued movie. Musafir wins it hands down. In my opinion, that movie was bakwaas. I for one disliked it because there was more of a focus with displaying the actresses? (main and the ?item numbers?) exposing talents. Ok, I?m not saying dress up like a nun, all I?m asking is a little bit of decency. There?s a fine line between Sensuality and Vulgarity. I especially detested the fact that Paedophilia was portrayed in an evocative manner, ok, I get that Mahesh M was trying to prove that Sameera seduced him, but still. It?s tasteless. The editing wasn?t exactly that great either.

TouchDown Award (Breakthrough Performance):

There have been many breakthrough performances this year, so I won?t just give it to only one person. Can I do this? Sure I can! These ARE my awards! LOL.

Abhishek Bachchan (Yuva, PM, Dhoom): Wow?this has been his year! Maybe not according to b.o results (only DHOOM was a hit), but performance wise, he has had a brilliant year! There was power and strength in his roles?whether it be a ruffian, a lawyer or a cop, there was vigour, emotion and humour.

Bobby Deol (Bardasht, Kismat, ATHWS): Ok, so just because he?s one of my favourite stars, doesn?t mean that I was biased when I selected him. His expression was just super! The intense look, the ability to convey frustration and anger?and his maverick nature in ATHWS, was just fantastic!

Mehmood Award (Comedian):

NOMINEES:

Kareena Kapoor (Hulchul)

Arshad Warsi (Hulchul)

Paresh Rawal (Hulchul)

Akshay Kumar (Mujhse Shaadi Karoge)

Annu Kapoor (Kuchh To Gadbad Hai)

WINNER:

Arshad Warsi (Hulchul):

Up until MUNNABHAI, he wasn?t exactly the biggest star around, even though I?ve always liked him. After it though, his popularity rose and rose and rose! With HULCHUL he proved that MBBS wasn?t a fluke performance at all. In HULCHUL, he has the best dialogue delivery, best facial expressions, and best body language. I always fwd HULCHUL to the scenes where he?s in, it just cracks you up watching him act, be a bit foolish, and suggest wacky ideas to Akshay Khanna.?HILARIOUS! I believe he wasn?t given much scope to perform, but whatever time he was provided with, he used it to its full potential. Slang seems to suit his style, as does getting beat up all the time! LOL!

Picasso Award (Art Direction):

NOMINEES:

Indranil Ghosh (Raincoat)

Nitin Desai (Swades)

Sharmishta Roy (Veer-Zaara)

Sabu Cyril (Phir Milenge)

WINNER:

Indranil Ghosh (Raincoat)

In movies, an art director is one who give the ?look and feel? of the movie and it is this area where I think Indranil Ghosh succeeded. Of course, she had tough competition, but she takes it, as RAINCOAT was truly a remarkable film, in a sense that the realistic nature of the film was conveyed brilliantly. You were invited into the house of Neeru, and felt like you had just landed in someone?s actual house in Calcutta! The neighbours outside, the costuming, the furniture?freaky it was, the realism. Even Manu?s friend?s house was so close to reality that you had to pinch yourself to see that you weren?t dreaming!

Pillar of Strength (Supporting Actor):

NOMINEES:

Akshay Kumar (Khakee)

Vivek Shauq (Kuchh To Gadbad Hai)

Zayed Khan (Main Hoon Na)

Akshay Kumar (Mujhse Shaadi Karoge)

Amrish Puri (Hulchul)

WINNER:

Vivek Shauq (Kuchh To Gadbad Hai)

This was a small time movie, I?m not too sure if many people actually watched it, let alone remember it! This was a comedy, and what a comedy it was! I mean, everything was so interwoven that it was just?wow! Vivek Shauq (Aitraaz, Gadar, Dil Hai Tumhara etc) lent an able shoulder to Sushant Singh. His performance was mind-blowing. I was most impressed with his dialogue delivery and the quality of his acting. He did well as the confused yet loyal friend who commits many acts of ?fraud? in order to help his best mate, but also, trap the only daughter of a millionaire! He succeeds in the scenes that require him to be melodramatic but also others where it was necessary to provide light comic relief. FANTASTIC!

The HoldUp Award?(Supporting Actress) support

NOMINEES:

Rani Mukherjee (Yuva)

Divya Dutta (Veer Zara)

Preity Zinta (Dil Ne Jisse Apna Kaha)

Ayesha Jhulka (Kuchh To Gadbad Hai)

Rani Mukherjee (Veer Zara)

WINNER:

Rani Mukherjee (Yuva):

How could I possibly ignore Rani in this fantastic movie? I mean, the part of the movie she was in was the most interesting one. Her desperation to keep her husband out of the ?career? of crime and her frustration at his stubborn attitude is incredible. She so realistically portrays her character, that it is hard to imagine anyone else filling in her shoes. The love she has for her husband is strong, she willingly overlooks his faults and decides to believe in a more positive outcome. One is able to empathise with her character as there is so much hurt, pain and love present in her. Rani?s body also looks ?frail? which, when juxtaposed to her resolute nature, conveys the message that anyone can be strong with the ?power? of love. Rani brings a great degree of realism to her character and it shows?the effect is worth applause.

Ok guys, that about does it for me?I?m sorry for not having included all the popular categories, but you see, I believe that they are in a sense, ?over discussed?, and the awards that I?ve listed are ones that get ?shunted? to the side.

Ciao!
