Contrary to the popular opinion about the 's*cking' ezeego1 experience, I should say that I have had rather a good experience with ezeego1. May be not good, but at least the 'expected' experience. Though I should confess that before I got the cash back, butterflies were flying in my stomach!!
Anyway, coming to the point, I booked onward and return tickets for my dad and mom between Delhi and Bangalore, one way in Indigo and another in Air Deccan. Of course, booking ticket in Air Deccan was my mistake. I didn't go thru the T&C carefully. There it was clearly mentioned that the cash back offer was available only for select airlines of which Air Deccan was not one of them. Also I was not aware of the fact that the cash back would be given only on the basic fare and not the taxes. This was also mentioned in the T&C but I didn't bother to go thru it.
I did get 50% cash back(I had booked using ICICI bank platinum credit card) of INR 2099.00(half of the basic fare in Indigo i.e. INR 4198.00) and the interesting thing here was that, I didn't have to get this done thru the Ezeego1 customer care. I just took the issue up with the ICICI bank customer care. They asked me certain details like PNR no., basic fare, ezeego1 booking ref no. etc. And that's it, in the next credit card billing cycle, I got the cash back amount.
Not only this, another interesting aspect about ezeego1. The total aggregate charge that you have to pay if you book using Ezeego1 comes to an amount that is less than the sum of amounts on the individual tickets if you view the tickets on the respective airline websites.
In my case, the total Indigo airfare came to INR 7743.88 and the total Air Deccan airfare came to INR 6140.40. However the aggregated Ezeego1 airfare came to just INR 13532.00 which is INR 352.28 less than the sum of individual fares in indigo and air deccan. Surprising right?
So not only did I get the expected cash back but also paid a lesser amount than I would have had to if I hadn't used Ezeego1. Apart from this ICICI took care of getting me this cash back and I didn't have to go thru Ezeego1 customer care at any stage.
Of course, I do have complaints about ezeego1. Most of the very useful information was hidden in terms and conditions which makes one wonder that are these people making money by fooling people by not letting them get to know easily what is very important. That the offer is not valid on all the airlines is in fine print. That the offer is only on basic fare is also in fine print. This is the difference between marketing in US and India. In US all the marketing is on merit of the service or product. Here these people are searching for opportunities to fox the people.
