Evolve has proven to be amazingly reliable despite heavy usage in the last 6 years and hence I strongly recommend it over other brands, some of whom manufacture their's in China and sell it in India under their name.
Almost 6+ years ago, due to irregular supply of cooking gas by crooked gas distributor, my parents had to look for an alternate plan. My aunt staying in Kerala suggested induction cook-top from EVOLVE and thus 6 years ago we purchased our first induction cook-top from this hitherto unknown brand. As far as I could recollect, EVOLVE(https://evolvetechnologies.org/) must have been the first company to introduce induction cook-top in India.
We use it daily, almost continuously; from boiling milk and water to frying various items. We also take it with us when we travel outstation(4 to 5 times in a year), to avoid hotel food for my kid.
I once damaged the cover accidentally by stuffing it under other heavy baggage in the boot of my car during one of our out station travels. Fortunately the ceramic was intact and EVOLVE is working perfectly fine till date despite the crack in it the ABS encasing.
Only once in the last 6 years it stopped working when a notable voltage fluctuation and surge ’fried’ its PCB. When I called the number on their site, they informed me that they NOT have any authorised service providers in Bangalore. If the product is bought from a Mall(Total Mall sells Evolve) then customers could give it for repair there itself. Else, someone like me had to physically carry it to their office cum repair center located at NGEF layout.
While I did NOT like having to drive all the way to their office, the chance to repair it for under Rs 500/- versus having to buy a new one at Rs 2,500/- or higher, my choice was obvious. Despite the distance, the place was easy to locate. It took under 30 mins to get the PCB replaced.
I am aware of https://inductioncookerrepair.com/ who pick up, repair and drop any brand cook-top at your convenience. When I spoke to them, they were honest enough to tell me that they have to source a matching PCB from SP road. I did NOT want to take chance with that since Evolve person had already confirmed ’original’ PCB being readily available with them.
EVOLVE is Kerala based. The team of talented entrepreneurs includes Engineers from REC, a lady who is also in-charge of the repair; all in a small new office at NGEF layout in Bengaluru.
With the Govt removing subsidy on the cooking gas, I hope and wish that team EVOLVE grabs this opportunity and makes it big. They probably have a better product than those Chinese made sub-standard cook-tops sold under few other bigger brands in India.
If you want your induction cook-top to last longer then you need to stick to the following:
1.Avoid any physical damage. If the ceramic is damaged, do NOT use it. Liquid seeping from the crack may reach the copper coil below it and could prove dangerous
2.Avoid spilling/ dirtying the ceramic . Keep it clean. Never wipe ceramic with cold/wet cloth immediately after use. Hot surface may develop hairline cracks
3.Do NOT "Plug off " the induction cook-top after using it. The fans need to run for few more minutes to cool the coil after you "switch off" the touch screen
4.Voltage fluctuation is the number one enemy of your induction cook-top. It damages the PCB which is THE important Electronic component inside it
5.Keep an eye on the utensils while on use on the cook-top. Due to vibration and smooth ceramic surface, some tend to move and fall off
6.Keep away from kids. They get drawn by the blinking lights and sound making touch pad. It could prove harmful to either party!
Wish you a Happy & safe cooking:)
