EMPI Business School is a Business School with a difference. It is committed to blaze a new trail for what Management Education should be in India in the coming years, as the country witnessed a compressed change through increasing liberalisation and integration into the world economy. The aim is to train what is termed here as the Entrepreneurial-Manager.
Conventionally, Entrepreneurship and Management have been viewed as two separate processes. They are not. Entrepreneurs are supposed to be highly innovative and dynamic risk takers who build Enterprises, while Managers are seen as professional maintainers of existing systems. Management Gurus like Peter Druckerhave urged that the distinction between Entrepreneurship and Management is a sham with the two being simultaneously required in both small start up companies as also large corporations.
EMPI stands for Entrepreneurship and Management Internationalsignifying the changing emphasis in international management thought to progress and processes, as also the fading distinction between entrepreneurship and management, with the need today for an entrepreneurial manager. He is a Leader, a Generalist, an Innovator, a Challenge Seeker and a Continuous Learner.
Modern thinking on Organisational Learning has emphasised that Learning has become the new form of labour which is no longer a separate activity that occurs only in the classroom, but all the time constituting the heart of productive activity. With Learning closely related to problem solving, the Managers of the future have to be of the kind who constantly seek and solve challenges.
It has a galaxy of international Visitors, Guides, Executives/Consultants and Academicians, coming from the top universities in the US. The Indian Faculty and Researchers are renowned in India and abroad. Some of them like Binod Agawarwalare my friends. Professor Udai Pareekwas my former colleague at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi.Ms. Tara Sinhathe Ogilvyof India, one time Chairman of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, from where I have retired, is also well known to me.
How did I know EMPI?
Following EMPI's ad in the Business Todayof June this year, I applied for a Visiting Faculty position. Prompt came the reply that my case was being processed. I also received by Courier a packet containing a Brochure and Leaflets about EMPI Group of Industries. I have not yet heard from them for reasons best known to their HR Executive. But one thing is impressive. It a Group of Industries that has created the EMPI Business School. Its students are brilliant. It is in New Delhi. It teaches Communication Management, Advertising, Global Business Management and Research, Food, Agriculture and Retail Management, Governance & Informatics, Hospitality & Tourism, Applied Behavioral Science, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property.
Unlike other Schools of Management, it has qualified and experience faculty. Yes, if you ask me where to send your son or daughter to study Management, I would say , of course EMPI. You know, I am the first one in the MS Circuit to write a Review on EMPI.
