Coelho has mastered the art of writing everyman's story ..and every womans.
This book is what it seems and then some.
It is about temptation and sin.But not as one would imagine it.
It is the sin of greed of wanting more than what one has.Of the search for the land of treasures..and then the search within oneself-for the person who you are.
Its the kind of book that almost all of us could relate to.Whether its the part about making it big ..or being an adventurer in a foreign land..or simply about getting a better life...its about the temptation of 'more' and the struggle to give up one thing to gain another.
While the setting may be unsettling to some..its the emotion that coelho so artisitically weaves into his stories that keeps you turning to the next page.
Like all Coelho books I ended up reading this in one sitting and then starting over to dwell on the parts I related to.
You don't have to be a woman to feel what the protagonist feels-you just have to be human.
