Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Book 16
Started Reading on: Feb 22nd , 2010
Returned: Feb. 24th, 2010
The book is about the author’s trip to Italy, India and Indonesia, in order to seek some spiritual peace n happiness after a messy divorce and then a break-off with her “rebound boyfriend”. In Italy she learns Italian which she says is the most romantic “sounding” language and EATs a lot and thus gains a considerable amount of weight
In India, she goes to an “anonymous” Ashram and PRAYs, meditates and gives free service to the ashram for their various requirements, for several months and attains peace n stability in her mind to a large degree.
In Indonesia, she finds LOVE. Her writing style is casual and she portrays herself as a freaked out New Yorker. I sometimes wonder is poverty the only thing foreigners see in India?
Loved the petition to God/ Universe game which her friend asks her to write. It was creative and amazing. :)
Honestly, I was turning away lot of pages because lot of information wasn’t put in an interesting manner for a person like me. But all in all, it was a different experience to read a book on a person’s tour and how she mingles with new friends inspite of the language, culture and community barrier.
