First the minuses…....
DUS is an apt case of body beautiful minus soul ! It has so much to offer in terms of style but not much in substance .
The concept of film should've been elucidated in the utmost simplistic fashion, but director uses terms that would be hardly understood. For most cinegoers, it would seem like Greek and Latin.
The characterizations too seem flawed, as most of the roles do not suit the actors playing them. Shilpa Shetty looks liKe item girl admitted in ATC.Sanjay Dutt looks like father of Abhisekh rather than his brother .
Zayed Khan looks like idiot not an officer . Moreover, there are too many characters, leading chaos and confusion ! Why on thIS earth Diya and Raima doing this film ?
Now the plusses
Cinematography is of a superior quality.
The special effects are very well executed.
Dialogues are noteworthy.
The performances are passable .
Music is of high standard and makes you dance .
Film has twist and shocks in aplenty !
Story
pAnkaj Kapoor is a terrorist who is planning to explode bomb in Canada during a football match .His mission has a code JEET .
A team of special officers assembles to crack the code of JEET. The team has Sanjay Dutt as DIG Siddhant of Anti-Terrorist Cell and is assisted by Shashank (Abhishek Bachchan), Aditi (Shilpa Shetty) and Aditya (Zayed Khan). With the help of Canadian police officer Dan (Suniel Shetty) and Neha (Esha Deol), they need to unearth the barbaric plans of deadliest terrorist Jamwal. 'Dus' has many angles to look at. At first, it has psychological pressures of the team that unites to finish Jamwal. The time set for the action is just one week.
The characters are very diverse; Siddhant cannot compromise with his duties and every other thing comes later for him. Shashank is a cool guy who never loses his temper. He reads the problem, and seconds before the bang happens, makes it safe for himself and others. Aditya is a fun-loving boy who loves action even if he is to play with bombs. The story line also has emotional strings. If Dan is suffering from his past love life and his son's death, Anu (Dia Mirza) is fantasizing about her dream man [Zayed].
Anubhav Sinha has concentrated on making the frame look visually rich. The shot execution is stylish and the usage of special effects make the film look chic. But a solid screenplay was the need of the hour. Also, relying on the tried-and-tested stuffs diluted the impact .But the money spent is visible in every frame, the grand look of the film just cannot be overlooked.
But you have to be ultra cool to catch the film .Its so cool in every aspect except the story !
Music is rocking to say the least .Cinematography is eye candy .
Some Sequences do remain with you even after the show is over ! Like
1.When Sanjay Dutt confronts one of his officer after knowing his truth and the sequence where that officer gunned down himself !
2.The way with which Shilpa Shetty kicks a** is worth noting !
3.Esha Deol's identity comes as a complete shock !
4.Climax is captivating .It can be surely called as most explosive climax seen in Hindi cinema !
5.Just before the interval when a bomb is exploded in the car is spine chilling !
But the performances are just tolerable.Abhisekh is not that good .Poor ! Sanjay Dutt is miscast .He looks like AB's baby sorry father !
Shilpa Shetty who had two released this week has failed to give decent performance for second time .Sorry to disappoint her fan [read coolcritics007] ,this will be her last big film for sure !
Zayed Khan is idiot .No acting talents whatsoever .He is here just bcoz of star father .Otherwise he did not deserve to be junior artist .This guy is all style no substance .
Sunil Shetty is mad ,fat ,poor ! Diya is nice and looks better than Esha ,Shilpa ,Raima .
Esha is weak and looks sucking in short hair .Pankaj Kapoor is only one who has acted well .
All in all watch it for style ! But won't movies on HBO be a better option ?
