Dostana (2008): Literally Gay. Review on Dostana

Ha Ha. I made a "gay" joke.

And after watching that trash that is DOSTANA(2008), I really don't want to see another desi CHUCK AND LARRY esque movie ever again. They really screwed it up BIG TIME.

I'm sorry? What was the purpose of the skin show by Shilpa "I can't act but ogle at my body puhlezze" Shetty and namma(our) Johnny [Abhraham] doing a SRK ala Dard e Disco? Was it to kill 10-15 minutes of the camera footage, because it was a waste of time. And John, put some pants.and shirt on. 5 more minutes into the movie and it's like watching an x-rated desi film. And John, you made your point, we get it. Stop taking off your clothes every 5 minutes of the movie. That's stealing the C-grade plot's thunder.

Apparently, the writers forgot what to do with Priyanka after she's introduced to the guys. My god, the makeup guys need to be laughed at. Why? Cause they made Priyanka look like a cross between a hooker and a Hooters waitress. In Priyanka's case, doesn't make any difference since her acting rivals of a 5 year old child with a fake american accent. And as it is a Karan Johar production, you can expect every "English cliched" gag shoe horned into his bloody flick. Namely the Aunty - Aunty sequences topped off with his previous song hits, K3G and KKHH. Ugh.

Bobby Deol decided to pop in the sets and beg the Johars for a job since he hasn't had a hit in years. So what happens? They cast him as Priyanka's love interest who makes cliched innuendos while trying to maintain a "U" image [FYI, in India, getting a "U" means Universal ala "G" rating in the US]. And guess what? He's a single father! Sentiment time!

But if anything, Abhishek Bachchan surely must have polished up his acting skills and does a plausible job at it too, but nothing groundbreaking like GURU or YUVA. Still, he hamms it and doesn't go over the top.

Toss in the typical Johar-esque jokes from "Kal Bore Na Ho" and presto, you got DOSTANA. Now with 80% more Hindglish as to what Johar makes in his movies.

Vishal - Shekhar's music is in the lines of inane to plagerism. Kuch Kum speaks for being a lift-off from "Time of your life", "Desi Girl", a mash of Shankar-Eshaan-Loy's "Pretty Women/ Aaja Mahive", you get my point.

So really.Dostana is totally gay. Avoid it like plague and go watch Dasavathaaram.
