Satyamev Jayate. Review on Doordarshan

I could watch...far...far away...in the villages...towns...even cities! Something which is pure National...what could it be other than Doordarshan? Commonly known as DD...it is not just a channel but a try to keep people bonded.

Channels are increasing...increasing...and increasing. Some winning...some loosing in the battle of TRP but...look...there stands something which is stalwart...the leader...the parent of all this! Doordarshan started out as one single channel but even now...when the Television is flooded by channels...this channel still remains No.1! Having almost 72% terrestorial...cable still has a long way to reach this level.

When talking about DD...it has to be compared with the private channels which can go to any level to be the favourites of viewer. STAR Plus, leads in this but I guess, only a few people know that STAR India pvt. ltd.'s infrastructure was built by around 25 people picked from Doordarshan and even the leading man in journalism, Prannoy Roy started his company New Delhi Television(NDTV) with the support from this National channel. Doordarshan has the biggest network in the country and 3 years back, even STAR News hired the network from DD.

Doordarshan has one of the best CPC(Central Production Centre)in the world with all the latest equipments required for Television Networking. Even the authentic training for Television or Movies is provided by the FTI(Film and Television Insititution) in the country and Doordarshan trains it's officer from FTI only.

When switiching to Doordarshan, one feels a refreshing change from the family dramas or useless talk shows being aired on almost every private channel. There are much more informative programmes which are really helpful to increase your awareness towards the social issues and your own country. Haath Se Haath Mila, a show being made by BBC world and aired on Doordarshan; recently won the Unicef award for increasing the awareness of AIDS in the villages and towns. Jasoos Vijay, a thriller by DD still is winning hearts of millions of viewers in the country...the proof if it's popularity can be measured the award it recently won in the Indian Telly awards(a popular award) in the category of Best Thriller.

Doordarshan is still the only channel reaching the remote areas in India...and programmes like Galti Kiski, a show based on real criminal issues; Jasoos Vijay and Haath Se Haath Mila increases the knowledge of even a farmer sitting somewhere in his village...

It is a channel which has made a special place in every Indian's heart...
