It started with partner couple of months back, then came hey babyy and now dhamaal, seems like bollywood is on a spree of churning out hilarious, no nonsense, stress buster movies. Well what else do we need. Just a laughter dose of three hours and we are back to work with smiling faces on a groggy monday morning. Seems like the directors have got the right mantra for making such movies. Just give the junta the right dose of laughter and your movie is sure to be a huge success at the box office.
It all started with "MASTI" which was hilarious, then came "PYAARE MOHAN" which did not do well at the box office. For Indra kumar "DHAMAAL" is a great come back movie & he has proved that he can make better movies without any melodrama in it!
THE PLOT:
Arshad Warsi(Aditya), Javed jaffrey(Manav), Ritesh deshmukh(Roy) & Ashish Chaudhary(Boman) are four good - for - nothing fellows who con their way to make a living. In the process they come across a gangster Prem Chopra(Bose) who reveals his secret of ten crores to them before dying. Unfortunately Sanjay dutt(Kabir Nayek d cop) is after this gangster since ten years. He becomes suspicious of this four fellow's who are near the gangsters dead body & who absent mindedly confess the secret to him as well. Thus starts the mad hunt for money.
The humor is injected very well in most of the scenes. For instance the scene of taking the horse painiting to meetings is extremely funny. Also some other scenes where arshad tries to throw sand on sanjay dutt's face, the scene where Sanjay dutt ties the four of them, The scene of Asrani's car blowing up in flames, the scene of the south indian giving his introduction to Arshad, the scene of Vijay Raaz giving introductions to Ashish are absolutely rib tickling & hilarious. I would give full marks to the writers.
The first half of the movie is completely paisa vasool, but the second half becomes a little sluggish with forced humor but neverthless its not that bad either. The ending is a little melodramatic but then chalta hai.
Sanjay Dutt is at his natural best where he delivers his perfomance like a piece of cake. Hopefully this movie will be a welcome change for him after his jail episode. Arshad Warsi carries himself with ease, Javed is excellent playing a idiotic stupid dumb guy, Ritesh is good in some of the scenes(remember the scene where he tries to outwit the gangsters who are behind him) & Ashish successfully manages to make a mark with his performance. Also Asrani & Vijay raaz chip in their contribution to make the film hilarious.
Also did anyone notice all the three movies Partner, hey babyy & Dhamaal revolve only around men. There is no leading actress in any of the movies. There was only Vidya Balan in hey babyy who was just playing a cover up. Jai ho male bonding ki is all I can say.
So all in all I would say its a clean comedy movie without having any vulgarity in it!*
