As the dirty girl Vidya Says - Filmein sirf teen cheezon se chalte hain — entertainment, entertainment, and entertainment. This movie has ONLY that.
Here I come again for my third movie review. This time for the 'Desi Boyz'. Directed by the Son of David Dhawan, Rohot Dhawan's first flick. The film Casts Akshay Kumar, John Ibrahim, Deepika Padukone, Anupam Kher, Chitrangda Singh, Omi Vaidya & Sanjay Dutt. The film is a story of two friends who are hit hard by recession, turns themselves.
The movie is overall light comedy with some really good punches in between to keep you awake till the end. Another best part of the movie is the director, who knows if the movie is getting quite emotional at some point of time, diverts suddenly into some funny moments. The movie though was elaborated in a very simple way, the script could have been much much better to get things more complicated and intertesting. The first half of the movie is filled with a bit boring stuff while the second one was quite better where it balances between drama and fun.
Akshay Kumar & John were the soul of the movie. Akshay justifies his charater perfectly in the movie while John & Deepika were ok, Chitrangda Singh comes at second half but does very well. Sanjay dutt & Anupam Kher were not utilized thought both did a good job too. Omi was fabulous. Pritam's Music didn't work much at this time. Some of the tracks worked good. The movie is one time watchable.
Pros of the movie : The Starcast, the screenplay and dialogues.
Cons: The Script.
Overall, my rating would be 2.1 for Akshay & Omi. The movie is not going to hold up in theatres for more than a week.
