I have been using my Dell Studio 1558 laptop since 4 years and really I didn't expect it that would last so longer.! I purchased a refurbished model of this laptop in around Rs. 27000/- . It was my first laptop. So talking about the specifications, it has a dual core 2.26 GHz dual core Intel i3 processor, with 4 GB RAM. It comes with 500GB hard disk and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 Graphic card. It ha in built bluetooth port and a card reader slot. Its screen size is 14.6×10×1.0-1.5 inches and weights approx 5-6 pounds. It comes with 2 year dell warranty but as I have purchased a refusrbished one it comes with warranty of only 12 months.
So taking consideration to above specs my studio 1558 prolonged its life more than its limit. Tye i3 processor seems to be outdated now as i5 and i7 are ruling the market, but beleive me I have used my laptop so roughly that I expect no one could ever wish to use upto that limit. It comes with windows 7 home premium OS which I upgraded to Windows 10 OS recently in this year. The windows 10 demands a slight high performance but the Windows official update was available to me. But the official update was for home users and my laptop was also not compatible for Pro versions of Win 10, but having faith in my laptop I installed windows 10 PRo N on my machine and yaa it worked but with some bugs. I was ok with that bugs as they were not interefering in my work. But this reduced my performance too. Sometimes the virus attack causes the additional problems. When the warranty was gonna finished in one month, my dvd writer got damaged, but dell is known for its quick service.l, I quickly rushed to the nearby CARE centre from where I bought my laptop and within 5 days they sent a technician at my home. I have an inbuild 4GB RAM and interesting thing to note is that I can expand it upto 8 GB which can extend my laptop life a little longer. The graphic card of this laptop is not also powerful as of other versions of AMD and NViDia but I have done a lot of hard gaming on this. I ran Assasins Creed and Call of duty on this games, but unfortunately they worked for a very less time as the machine was getting stucked a lot so I have to uninstall those games, but the gaming experience was good. Initially the sound and picture quality were too good. But due to my rough usage the screen got some dead pixels and due to my unknown and dangerous curisioties I opened the back lid of my laptop without proper guide and instruments and unfortunately damaged the speaker. But fortunately it didn't died fully, speaker is working but with a lot of buzzing sound. The storage space initially I thought would be enough but you know Internet, now hardly 25-30 GB storage is left on my laptop so I am now using an external hard drive. The blutooth module is probably dead. And some usb ports are also not responding properly.
But overall I loved this laptop and I am proud of the soldier who bear all the tortures and experiment on him. And unfortunately you cant buy this new as they are out of stock now.
