I expected Rakeysh Mehra to make Delhi 6 hit it out of the park like he did with his last hit, Rang De Basanti.

But then again, a plot very eerie similar to Gowriker's Swades with SRK in the lead, the plot within about 10 minutes in the film leads to nowhere. It doesn't progress, nor does it entertain. Sure there's bits and pieces that are good about the film, nothing great.

Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) sleepwalks in his role as an NRI who assists in following his daadi (Waheeda Rahman)'s last wishes, to die in her homely home in Chandini Chowk, Mehra's hometown I believe. At CC, Roshan meets up with people who have good connections with Dadi. His mother's lost love (Rishi Kapoor), relatives, shop owners, etc. Again, 10-15 minutes into the film, it leads to drone-vile.

That Kaala bandar. I wasn't sure what it was supposed to be? A spoof of CNN-IBN notoriousness of hyping up something stupid or needless as the biggest media attraction? Or was the writer (Rensil D'Silva) sleeping and/or needed something to keep the story moving. Because either way, it gets lost in translation, leading to some of the unwanted material of the film.

Then there's Bittu (Sonam Kapoor), who dreams of becoming the next Indian Idol, yet focuses on sex appeal. For that, I have to give Mehra props because that's reality of reality shows. Middle-class can have...middle class, but for tv, sex appeal is a must. Just look at bollywood behind the scenes for god sakes. But her shady friend, the photographer, was just a rushed and half-baked wala character that the writer failed to explain for a nearly 3 hour film.

Another great point of the film was the mirror thing. Like I said, the film is endearing in parts, but as a whole....hard to swallow. In the end, it's more like a documentary. But overall, the film totally sucks and it's pale to the hard-hitting Rang De that released 3 years ago. Abhishek was doing his "chup-chup" baatein role + hamming SRK's Swadeshy character. Sonam was decent, not great. Rahman's music was nice but I felt there were too many songs. My picks, "Dil Gira Girafftan, Masakilli." Watch Swades instead.
