Iski baanhon ne kiya hai jawaan mujhko, iski galiyon ne diya hai panaah mujhko, meri behtareen yaadon ka mazma yahan basta hai. Poora hindostan ghooma magar dil yahan basta hai isse door hoon jo aaj.
Jo har kooche se nikle rasta, jata usko dikhta hai Ae Dilli meri mohabbat kya tu bhi yaad mujhko karta hai?
This was the instant thing coming out of my heart after seeing one song of this movie.14 years of my life where I was transformed from a boy to a man after coming from my hometown.
I owe many things to this place. Delhi-6 was an emotional meeting.very emotionally heartfully blissfully conducted by Takesh Om Prakash Mehra. Its a refreshingly good movie who perhaps first time shows you the real Chandni Chowk of Delhi.
The real heart of Delhi, the common stories of Delhi, the coziness of being together and some time being haunted by the closest one, where the love and hate are so immense and actual just like the two faces of same coin. Delhi-6 is a very intelligent portrayal of human emotions as well where a thin line exists between goodness and animal hidden within us.
The way entire story has been narrated is just adorable. The period of navratri/dussehra(Raamleela) has been chosen cleverly to give the underlining message along with smartly chosen mascot of Monkey Man dread in 1990's of Delhi. Many people in the cinema-hall could not understand these things.its their problem!
A cool dude from USA comes to Old Delhi to see-off his Grandmaa and slowly and gradually he falls in trap of scent of India, very well prototyped by Old Delhi, where chaos define the balance, where crowd define the heat of summer and warmth of winter. Its transformation and realization that its eventuality or goodness and badness to blind us otherwise you just need the scent of oneness to smell the feel of togetherness.
Performances:Let me tell you this movie is not a hero based but collective of all characters which make the movie hero in itself. Almost every actor has been given enough and equal screen presence and all of them have done enough justice. Still will not disappoint you.
Abhisheik Bachchan has given outstanding performance as a confused NRI Desi slowly falling in love with both, a woman and Delhi.
Waheeda Rehman with old grace as charming and emotional lady. Watch her for some comic scenes like negotiating for Matki, or watching delivery of Cow on the mid of the road.
Sonam Kapoor equally lovable cute girl with lots of potential for future.
Rishi Kapoor touches you with some nostalgic and romantic dialogues and same time win a background song which showcases night roads of Delhi on which I used to race my 150 CC bike with friends in wee hours of late night.
Pawan Malhotra, very talented actor blesses this movie with his presence as a estranged brother of Om Puri, both of whom separated a common home by a new found wall which had one brick still sliding to make the window for talks between the ladies of two separated families.
Giving hope that someday the wall would collapse.a father's radio whom pawan wanted to restore by correcting its complex wiring.gets corrected the day when he jumps across the very same wall,
Dobu Dobrial as Mangu, whose Jalebi served generations and same people burn and loot the same Jalebi Wala when the animal arises inside.
Each and every performance has been impeccable. You just watch them.
Technically Superior:
The beauty of performances is given more edge by the cinematography and the camera literally talks with charm and goes in terrific movement with every face and scene..some mesmerizing camera movements were:
During the Ramleela Sessions. Early morning scenes from the rooftop of Old Delhi blue sky covering clusters of houses with bold projecting dome of Jama Masjid in backdrop. The jumps of Abhisheik telling you how close each house of old Delhi are and especially they touch the height in Songs with likes of Mashakali or Dil Gira Dattaffan.
This movie is ruled by the camera. Sameway the editing has been top class.Direction is excellent: Most of the people did not like Aks, but I had. I had felt strongly very good for rakesh Mehra as a director who has capability to get into the intellectual spread alongwith capability to tell it through mind blowing screenplay.
In fact in this way I give Delhi-6 more marks than Rang De Basanti, which looked little misguided and unrealistic.more a cosmo chic chonchla than speaking solutions. He restores himself back with Delhi-6 as uncompromising director and this movie will make him proud of his craft. No bloody Chopra johar or anyone could dare to showcase Delhi and Chandni chowk with such scent and gutts to shoot in that chaotic place in reality!
AR Rahman creates Riots with his Music: Not just one song, but each and every song of this movie is simply ballistic.Be it Genda Phool covering the scent of traditional housewives mood or Yeh Dilli hai Meri jaan getting into cosmic rap, or Rehna Too making you feel nostalgic.every song is superb.perhaps much better than SlumDog!
To add the beauty more as mentioned earlier, the cinematography of every song alongiwth choreography just do wonders.
Finally, I would definitely recommend this movie to all of you, just go and enjoy the scent of Delhi, and especially those who have been associated with it sometimes in their life. Its a honest movie made from heart The warm pleasent moments define the movie even in its unpleasant scenes and end with a note which sends you home happily especially when you feel that for past 2 months not a single movie has been able to touch your heart.
Definite watch.
