I've heard this dialogue umpteen no of times. And not to forget the great indian comedy show which has used this dialogue to create gags , but all in good spirit
The dialogue goes this way in one of the gags of great indian comedy show
One brother to the other brother ''Mere pass do shirt hai , teen pant hai , ek second hand motorcycle hai , ek kiraye ka makan hai ...tumhare pass kya hai''
The second brother fumes with emotions ''Mere pass maa hai''
And then appears the stereotypical maa with her kyu ki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi wala get up...hee hee
I couldnt stop laughing at this one
Neways coming back to the main point , I am not criticizing great indian comedy show or ekta kapoor over here, but what I am emphasising is the impact this movie still has on the bhartiya junta.
This movie was directed way back in 1975 by Yash Chopra. It was one of the outstanding movies in the 70's. Honestly speaking I watched this movie just because big B was starring on it. But somehow this movie has lot instore apart from big B.It has received so many filmfare awards, some of them which I have mentioned over here
Best actor in supporting role (1975) - Shashi Kapoor
Best screenplay - Salim Khan & Javed Akhtar
Best story - Javed Akhtar & Salim Khan
Best actor - Big B
Best actress in supporting role - Nirupa Roy
Yash chopra has a unique way of making movies. He can make movies on Anger & revenge (like deewar) and on the other hand he can also make movies on love & emotions (like kabhi kabhi , Silsila, Darr) which stirs ur heart to the core.He is one of the best directors this film industry ever had. Coming back to the movie, what made this movie a huge success was Yash chopra's direction , Panchamda's music , Big B's angry young man performance , Well supported by Shashi kapoor & nirupa roy. Add to it a dash of good screenplay & good dialougues with some peppy numbers like Keh doo tumhe (which was a hit even as a remix some years back) and voila there u have it.a good decent film for the junta which even a layman can relate to.
Big B's role had a huge impact on the middle class worker and his career was at its peak with the release of Deewar. With the release of deewar he was crowned with the title of ''angry young man''.
Synopsis :
The movie revolves around two brothers Vijay (Big B ) , Ravi (Shashi Kapoor) & Sumitra (Nirupa roy) their mother. Nirupa roy is fondly known as the mother of indian movie hereos & she has acted over more then 200 films. From a moral point of view her role was far more matured compared to the other heroines in that period. It is surprising to discover how a same situation can have different impacts on two brothers. They are a happy go lucky family , until one day their world comes crashing down when their father leaves them ,due to false remarks and ill treatment by the union members. Consequently nirupa has to leave the place and work in a city to earn their daily bread & butter. Again she is ill treated at her work place. Our angry young man gets really frustrated and throws a brick at the employer in one of the scenes. Vijay starts working at a very tender age , while on the other hand ravi takes more interest in his studies and becomes a cop when he grows up. But somehow vijay cannot forget his childhood. The built up frustration leads him to join the bad world when he grows up. Ravi's world is shattered when he discovers that his very own brother is on the most wanted criminal list. This leads to a very huge conflict between the two brothers. They dont have anything in common except for their mom. Both of them love their mother very much and can go to any limits for her. Both of them have a huge fight as to with whom will their mom stay. Nirupa prefers to stay with ajay coz she believes in morals and ethical values. She cannot digest the fact that Vijay is a smuggler. Well I will not reveal the whole plot in detail here. U better watch the movie to find out the rest. :P Par kehte hai na jeet hamesh sachai ki hoti hai , justice is done at the end , but to c how it is done u will have to watch the movie..
Some of the scenes & dialogues which were a huge success are
The scene where Vijay says ''Jao pehle us aadmi ka sign leke aao jisne mere haath mein ye likha ''mera baap chor hai''
The scene where Ravi says '' mere pass maa hai''
The temple scene where Vijay shouts in front of the idol ''Aaj khush toh bahut honge tum''
All n all this movie is a huge hit and its worth watching.
P.S : I dedicate this movie to my mom , because this movie revolves around a mom and its a small token of appreciation from me to her. Happy mothers day (in advance) to all the mom's in this world.
