DID U KNOW THAT HOLLYWOOD GLAM GRL HALLE BERRY HAS DIABETES (type 2)!!yes its true...it seems no one is exempted from this epidemic of a disorder.


What scares me the most is the fact that it is hereditary....my curiosity bout this dreaded disorder lead me into writing this review.i just hope this is as usefull to u as it was to  my dad.


Diabetes --a nutritional disorder--characterized by an abnormally elevated level of blood glucose + the excretion of  the excess glucose in the urine. It results from --an absolute or relative lack of insulin--leadind to abnormalities in carbohydrate metabolism as well as in the metabolism of protein n fat.


COMMON SCREENING TEST determination of blood glucose level before takin food n two hours after the intake of food.


NORMAL FASTING BLOOD SUGAR CONTENT


80-120 mg per 100 ml of blood n this can go up to a level of 150 mg per 100 ml of blood two hrs after meals.anything above these norms can b termed diabetic levels.


SYMPTOMS


--a diabetic feel hungry n thirsty most of the time


--he does'nt put on weight , though he eats every now


;looks pale n may suffer from anaemia, constipation, intense itching around       the genital organs


--palpitations n generalweakness


--feels drowsy


--has a lower sexual desire than a normal person


--his urine --has a pale color, an acidic reaction n sweetish odour


CAUSE


1) primarily caused by systematic over-eating +consequent obesity


--too much food intake puts pressure on the pancreas n eventually paralyses its normal activity


2) psychological worries:


--like grief, worry, anxiety-have a deep influence on the matabolism  n may cause sugar to appear in urine


3) cancer n tuberculosis:


--n someother organic disorder r associated with diabetes.


4) heredity:plays a major factor in diabetes.


TREATMENT:


Aim:to remove the actual cause of the disease n improve the overall health of the patient.


1)Diet plays a vital role


---a diabetic should b a stict lacto-vegetarian n take a low calorie , low fat , alkaline diet of high quality natural foods


---a good diet of a diabetic comprises of


a)fresh fruits:  r harmless as they contain sugar FRUCTOSE which does not need insulin for its metabolism


--for better results:take the juice of 4-5 fruits every mornin on an empty stomach.


--Jambal fruit(jamun)—is regarded effective in traditional madicine----jambal fruit seeds—contain a GLUCOSIDE JAMBOLINE  which is believed to check the pathologicl conversion of starch into sugar in cases of increased production of glucose.they should b dried  n their powder should  taken mixed in milk, curd or water.


b) fresh vegetables: r benefiial in reducing blood sugar in diabetes.


---celery, onions , garlic ,


----fresh bean pod: pod skin is extremely ich in silica n certain hormonal substances which r closely


related to insulin .—I cup of french bean tea=I unit of insulin


-----cucumbers:induce insulin production by the pancreatic cells


----- bitter gourd (karela): contains plant insulin which is found effective in lowerin the blood n urine sugar levels.—bitter gourd seeds can b added to food in a powdered form  or use bitter gourd in the form of decoction by boilin the pieces in water or in the form of dry powder.


c) fats n oils should b taken sparingly .emphasis shold b on raw foods to stimulate n increase insulin production


d) protien:home made cheese +nuts r best


e)like they say” take a chill-pill''; n lead a stress free life as your worries only aggravate the disease.


2)AVOID:


------tea+coffee+white flour+sugars +n all products made from them.


-----tinned food+refined cereals+alcoholic drinks.


-----avoid over-eating n take 4-5 small meals in a day rather than 3 heavy ones.


3)EXERCISE:


----light games, joggin n swimming r helpful.


----yagasanas: like jalaneti+kunjal


----panayamas---like kapalbahati+anuloma-vilona+ujjai    r beneficial.
