Being an Odiya and a foodie I was very happy when one of my friends told me Dalma has opened in Bangalore. So with all the enthusiasm I planned for lunch at Dalma over a weekend. On reaching there there was no parking space. The good thing is they have a Valet Parking. After waiting for 5 minutes on that busy traffic someone showed up to take my car.
The ambiance is dark and lousy. Broken lamp shades, patchy walls, dirty table linens. Something like a C grade road side place.
We placed the order after a long wait. It was crowded due to weekend and there were not adequate staff. We ordered a mutton thali and a crab thali thinking it would be ready and served in less time. It took more than half an hour to serve us.
The food was tasteless and oily. Mutton curry had no flavor, a boiled potato was floating on the gravy. The gravy/ jhola which is supposed to be the heart of the curry had absolutely no taste. I tasted the crab thali. The gravy was equally bad. Infact both tasted the same. I think they make a single gravy and use it for all curries.
Dalma is looting Odiya ppl on the name of Odiya food. It is better to eat at home than eating there.
