If there was one thing that hadn't gone wrong with that dinner at Dakshin, I probably would have considered tipping. But, sadly, that wasn't the case.
The food was terrible, and all dishes seemed to have just some kind of tomato puree and tonnes of chilli powder. They all tasted the same. The grilled fish that I ordered wasn't even cooked properly.
The place seems to be run by a great philanthropist who only employs mentally challenged people. You literally have to repeat your sentence 2-3 times when talking to the waiters, who conveniently ignore your order till you threaten to cancel it. The guy took full fifteen minutes to serve a scoop of ice-cream! I guess they start from milking the cow when you order that. And, it wasn't just our table. Everyone seemed to be pi$$ed off by their service.
Now, I'm probably being harsh. So, I'll give 3 stars to the ambience. The prices are okay, too. A dinner for two (w/o drinks) would cost you just about Rs. 500. Hey, but good food is one basic prerequisite for a restaurant. Without that, it serves no purpose by its existence.
