I came to Currae Hospital because it looked decent and clean. They gave a nice presentation, on how good the hospital is, and how good the processes are and how everything is covered in a package. Then they said they will give me 10% discount. I took the 90, 000 plan, because we were expecting a Caesarean.
On discount, they told me that they will give me coupons through a tie-up with the company "affordplan". But I had already paid 5000 booking, so I thought I could save something at least with the coupons, so I took the affordplan and paid all money in advance.
They told me that everything was included in the package and whatever exclusions are clearly mentioned in the plan. Those lists only had emergency procedures such as blood supply, which may not be normally required.
Then on last day, they gave me an additional bill of 4361 Rs., without which they won't even remove the needle from my wife's hand. They also said their systems were not working, so they couldn't give me the bill till the next day, but I needed to pay money immediately. The "extra charges" were some pathology tests, consumables, bed-side procedures, and "blood reservation charges".
Now I argued that these were common things, and should be part of the package. The plan paper given to me did not include these as "exclusions", and those were part of the package. They claimed that the limits in the package were already "used up" in the things not written(?) on the bill. I said I was never told about these extra tests etc., then why they performed and charged by own will, they said they are not obliged to tell me when they perform additional tests and need not tell me about charges as well. When I told them to give a detailed breakup of charges, so I can compare with other hospitals or labs; they refused to give any breakup and said they are not obliged to do so.
There were processes in the package, which were not used. So when I asked them they said that they won't refund that. So if you take package, you pay what is not used, AND you pay extra for what is part of package, AND you pay extra for tests and things they include at will without telling you. I was charged 4361 extra, others were charged 9000 and 13000 and 17000 extra.
When I offered to pay in affordplan coupons, they refused so, and said that I have to pay cash only. Affordplan coupons can be used only for OPD and vaccination etc.; so I am forced to go to them again for vaccinations. And of course, the coupons can't be used to pay the full charge, but only some selective charges so anyway they will get more business from you.
Plus the rooms had mosquitoes. They do not give bed for accompanying person, but you have to sleep on a 2-seater sofa. They won't provide you pillow or rugs or blanket. You will develop backpain or neckpain before leaving.
