Check all competitor tour companies, before choosing Cox, you may get a better deal.
This was my lesson for 2015.
Me and my mother had to stay in USA for two months. As our hosts obviously did not have time to show us around in US, we decided to take a conducted group tour of USA for 2 weeks.
I checked itineraries and prices of all known tour companies on the websites.
I finally came down to Cox and Kings and Make My Trip.
I discussed with representatives of both the companies in Delhi. The itineraries of both the companies was same for East Coast, West Coast of America. Both had same no. of days, same class of good hotels, Indian dinners, no lunches and so on.
My 1st choice was Cox as I had read a lot of bad reviews about MMT.
But when it came to discussing prices, there was a huge difference. Cox was charging much more. Cox personnel said they were to charge me the exchange rate as shown on their website, irrespective of the prevailing rate. And the rate on the web site was high.
And price for 4 domestic flights was yet to be added. MMT's quoted price, inclusive of all was much much less.
So, after having a lot of reassurances from MMT personnel, I chose MMT. After all money is a big constraint.
Once we were in US and reached New York to join the group, we were amazed to see the group of more than 60 people. We 1st thought that everyone had come through MMT. But we were surprised to know that only a few were via MMT, rest were from other tour companies, including Cox and Kings. This was shocking. Had we joined Cox and King, we would have done the same tour, probably with the same group, but only after paying up much more.
Just because you have a brand name, that does not mean you can extract more of our hard earned money. MMT has proved that same tour with same class of hotels and quality services, can be provided at a lesser price.
Our East Coast, West Coast tour of USA was a big success, even without Cox.
