~~~Protect Cavities on Daily Basis~~~. Review on Colgate Cavity Protection Toothpaste

A tooth paste is a must for the modern man. In good old days, there had people who used medical herbs, burned shuck with salt and ayurvedic powders. Modern day men is now used to toothpastes.

There are many brands and each brand have tens of varieties. In fact toothpaste industry is facing the landfall of excess products which leaves consumes confused. The excess number of products failed the companies to project a certain brand and the result? Consumers are now depending on the display in super markets than advertisements in TV channels. In this rat race offer packs gets the best sale and the offers. Then what about the need of the consumer?

I am no exception for selection of toothpastes and I have tried different brands of tooth paste different times. From the Colgate brand itself I must have used 4 or 5 varieties. I think two brands from Colgate took my attention, the Colgate Total and Colgate Cavity Protection. I may write a review on Colgate Total on another day, so leaving the scope of this review to the Cavity Protection.

The taste of the product is comfortable and good with a little shade of mint in it to give a fresh feel in the morning hours. The addend calcium as well gives a better feel. The product offers cavity protection, which is one major attraction for me, where I am carrying some 'wounds' from past on my defenses. It serves all basic functions of daily toothpaste like clean teeth perfectly, durable etc.

In a short wiki search, noted that the product 'Colgate Cavity Protection' is different from other products for it is using sodium monofluorophosphte (0.76 percentage, i.e. 0.15 percentage w/v fluoride ion) as the active ingredient instead of sodium fluoride. This helps the protection of cavities and prevents tooth decay.Inactive Ingredients are : Dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, water, glycerin, sorbitol, sodium lauryl sulfate, cellulose gum, flavor, tetrapotassium pyrophosphate, sodium saccharin (Chemists may advice more details and affects of the above components please.)

As per the company, for the children below 2 the product only should be used with the advice of a doctor and for children between 2-6, the use should be limited to a pea-sized amount and supervise child's brushing and rinsing to minimize swallowing. My suggestion, don't give it to children below 7 unless there is utter need. Take doctor's advice for a safe product. The warning for the product can be read as follows:

'As with all fluoride toothpastes, keep out of the reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately.'

In some lazy mornings, if I ignorantly swallow a bit of toothpaste impressed by the mint taste, I know it immediately as I get the vomiting tendency and I immediately help it by better control and action. Despite knowing the caution I use the brand for it works as promised and I am satisfied on that account. Recommended to all adults with cavity issues for daily use.
