Hello ! Friends,
I am back again.
Sometime back I had reviewed on Coffee Pai Cafe, a brand new coffee shop in Calcutta.
Well here I would like to give you update & narrate a beautiful incident I experienced at the cafe.
Since I believe this update might be long, so I will write it in two parts.
Here is the first part.
It was May 19, 2002, a hot & very humid Sunday.
I remember that day.
We had a family get together at one of my uncles place.
Around, 12 p.m, my parents suggested that we should organize Coffee Pais coffee at the get together.
They were at the coffee shop last day, and had enjoyed the Iced Black Forest Coffee.
Let me talk briefly on Iced Black Forest Coffee at Cafe Pai.
This coffee is served in a tall glass.
It contains milk, coffee, vanilla ice-cream, Hershey's Chocolate Syrup and bread crumbs.
This coffee looks exotic !!!!!! and tastes really good.
Well, as a frequent visitor to the coffee shop, about thrice a week, I am known to all the staff,
and director Mr.Naveen Pai.
So, I called up Mr.Pai on his mobile and conveyed him my parents desire.
Mr.Pai was happy to hear that my parents liked his coffee and that they wanted it be served
for the family event.
He inquired on the timings and the servings required.
We wanted it between 5 to 7 p.m and about 100 glasses.
Friends, just a reminder, each glass of Black Forest Coffee is Rs.45/- at the cafe.
When Mr.Pai heard the timings, he asked me whether we wanted it at that particular hour, or could it be changed.
I asked why?
Well, they had a major outdoor catering that evening at one of the prominent clubs in the city, next news channel AajTaak
correspondents were coming to cover then during that time and to top it all they were short staffed that day !!!!!!!
Now,Mr.Pai was a worried man.
He took down my number and said he would call me up in 10 minutes.
Well I thought, the call is never going come.
But in tem minutes, Mr.Pai did call.
He wanted to know if he provided the ingredients, and instructed us, could we manage on our own.
Nope, I said that was not possible.
Well, Mr.Pai thought for a moment, I could understand he was worried.
I suggested if it was too getting difficult for him , then we can drop the plan.
On hearing this Mr.Pai, said he would somehow manage, but he would surely do something.
He hung up with a promise that he will get back to me in ten minutes again.
Mr.Naveen called up once again, he said he will be keeping one of his coffee shop guys free at 5 p.m,
with all the ingredients, plastic glasses,etc.
The only thing that we had to do was leave that chap at 7 p.m.
I thanked Mr.Naveen, and assured him that we will send a car to pick his guy and also have him dropped back.
Hold on hold, what did Mr.Naveen say, he is sending plastic glasses? while they serve in glass out there at the
coffee shop.
Well we have it that way.
This Iced Black Forest Coffee looks exotic in glass only, and I want it that way only.
So, I call up Mr.Naveen again , and when he hears this, the poor guy, is in trouble once again.
According to him, even though they enough glasses , they don't keep so many glasses at the coffee shop.
The glasses are in his warehouse.
Now he has to manage the glasses as well !!!!!!
I could understand his dilemma.
But that sporting Mr.Naveen, assured me, ''don't worry Mr.Amit I will manage it for you''.
Well, we had one of the waiters from Coffee Pai picked up from their place.
He came ready with everything, including those brand new sparkling Borosil, glasses !!!!!!!!
When I inquired about those glasses from that guy, he answered, Mr.Naveen himself went to the warehouse
and had brought them.
By 6.30, we finished all the coffee and everyone appreciated the coffee.
Though there were a few non coffee drinking people, who had their own comments on the coffee,
overall every one liked it.
We then had that person from the coffee shop sent in a cab, with all his equipments, & glasses.
Satisfied to see everyone enjoyed, I called up Mr.Naveen to thank him.
He too was happy to hear that.
Friends, here in our country, customer service is a rare commodity.
While this young guy Mr.Naveen Pai really knows how to keep his customers happy.
I hope you all endorse my views too.
