Coconut Grove is a cool green place to getaway to in the heart of Bangalore..the restaurant and bar is part of a chain-I've been to the one in Chennai as well (that's located in landscaped lawns in the area where Shoppers Stop is)...
I'm writing this to recommend a very specific menu-having tried the length and breadth of their offerings on the menu!
For non alcoholics-the cucumber tomato cooler is just the thing on hot summer afternoon...or go traditional with the More (lassi).
If you like your tipple-the choice is a no brainer-Bangalore draught of course!
Order a pandi Curry(Coorg style pepperyPork fry) or a Pandi varathattu(a gingery Pork fry) or pehrpas Mutton if you don't eat pork!
Next you have to try their appams and order a veg or chicken stew on the side-this isn't the best place to be a vegetarian...but the thali will do if you don't eat appams.
The crabs here are avoidable-you need a microscope to find the little things-and they seem so fragile you'd feel immoral eating them!
For dessert the only way to go is the pineapple halwa made fresh and served with some cold vanilla ice cream. Perfect.
A meal for two here would set you back 500 to 600 rupees but makes for a nice relaxed evening. Wortha visit for Mangalorean/Coorg and Kerala cuisine.
