This is one bank that sucks in every way. More like you chose one of their service and they'll prove how good they are at messing it all up. I opened an account with them a year ago, when two of their representatives were there to assist you with filling up the forms. I asked the guy that I need a basic debit card no fancy stuff when he suggested a choice, next thing you know I get a Indian Oil card with no PIN number.
After calling Citibank they said that I'll still be charged a fee for the card but I can switch over to a basic card at no cost, this would be an ATM card. I accepted that. Well for the first card I got no PIN where as for the second card I only got the PIN. After regular calling and one year down the line I still have no card or PIN for that account. I stopped using the account.
Now about 3 months ago my employer uses Citibank for salary credit, so I had to get another account with them, I was so hoping that this should not be the same experience I had earlier. But Citibank proved it self once again, this time with my credit card. They stop sending me statements in mail, instead they email it to me. When I realized the change I saw a high balance.
Once I made the payment I realized my card was blocked due to non-payment. I call them up to find out what was going on, so they tell me once I clear the balance my account would be active again, sure enough once I made the full payment the card was active, However, for Citibank only to put all kinds of charges onto my account. I could still not use it. They charged me Rs. 3000 over the limit for some charges. I told them that I need a decent credit limit since the current limit does not cover much and I end up making payments to use it the second time, so they asked me to fax some documents over to them. I tried to fax them for over a month, trust me, I tried, early morning, afternoon, evening, nights, I mean 2 am 5 am but every time I got a busy tone. So I finally send the documents with courier. I have a confirmation of the delivery but Citibank says they never received the documents.
Now is this a bank or a bunch of idiots who have no clue of what the hell they are doing. I only wish they could be kicked of India. I mean India already has a lot of screwed companies and you would expect such service from a foreign company almost not, but here they are proving you all wrong to their best. God! I wish I could close my accounts with them and my employer would credit my salary in a different account.
