I am a member of Shoppers Stop frequent buyer / Regular customer program which is known as First Citizenship program. The membership is of three types - Classic, Silver and Gold. The classic membership is the lowest type wih least benefits, you get upgraded to Silver or Gold level when you make many purchases. Each purchase gets you points.
Few days back a man came to my house. He said that he works with shoppers stop and the deparmental Store has decided to upgrade your membership from Classic to Gold. This offer was too good so I agreed. I asked him various questions about this offer. The first question was Will I get free parking with this gold membership and he replied that yes I will get free parking in all Shopper Stop outlets. Then I asked him What will happen to my existing points to which he replied that they will get transferred to the Gold Membership Card. He filled up the form and I signed it but I didn't read the form. He assured me that my Gold Membership Card will arrive in 15 days time.
After 15 days what I recieve is not an updraded membership card of Shoppers Stop but a Citibank Credit Card. It is clearly indicated on the card that this card is given in association with Shoppers Stop.
This entire thing is a complete fraud commited by Citibank and Shoppers Stop. The man deliberately concealed the true facts and made false statements to induce me to sign the Credit Card Form.
Also Shoppers Stop has sold private information about its customers to Citibank. This is again unethical.
They give me this card without my proper consent I wonder what they will do when I start using the card. Hence I have decided to cancel the card.
