Just read your review on this product,Citibank Credit Card.
Even I don't hold a high opinion on this product & the credit card division from this world famous bank.
My brother holds an add on card since about five or six year, with a good track record.
All payments are made within the time period.
Last year,he had applied for a Citibank MTV Card online.
He applied sometime in October '01.
All the relevant documents were sent to Chennai address as mentioned on the website.
Just for your information's, if I am correct ,they had asked for copies last six months bank statements,
proof of identity, and last IT returned filed.
Months passed, and no card arrived, not even any communication from the bank.
Sometime in January this year, when my brother realized this he called up Citibank in Calcutta.
He spoke to some officer, who politely heard the story and promised to look into the matter.
Well,weeks passed, but we did not hear anything.
My brother was worried about his personal documents which he had sent to Chennai.
Since,there was no communication from the bank, he was worried that his documents were safe,
and in right hands.
Okay, he called up again, and once again as earlier, a polite officer came on line, he again heard the entire story.
Same answer once again, they would look into the matter and come back.
And did they come back ?????
Well well my friends, are we really known for customer friendly, apart from claiming
in papers !!!!!!
Weeks tuned into months a and yet to communication from the Bank.
By them my brother had spoken to a dozens of officers at the Citibank Calcutta.
What was really surprising, even after months of applying for the card, there was no trace of his application !!!!!!
Well,its possible that to misplace documents, but there is no trace of an application made online !!!!!!
Does this online application really works at Citibank, or its just a showpiece !!!!!
We knew that with corporations like Citibank, they have managers who are truly professionals.
But is this professionalism???????
Months have passed while an application was made for a credit card, they have taken documents which
are so important, and no one knows anything??????
Aren't such documents supposed to be handled carefully????
The numerous officers whom my brother spoke to for so many times, repeating the facts again & again,
and each of those officers promising to ''look into the matter and come back''.
But no one ''comes back'' !!!!!!!!!!!!
What the hell is this?????
Hey friends, that's not all, listen to this.
My bro, then made it a point to call up these guys, unit they found out his documents, forget the card application.
He wanted to know where his documents were ????
At last, one of the officers found out what happened with my application.
Well they were unable to locate the application, while they had received my bros supporting documents.
This officer suggested a solution, that my bro sends in a fresh application and he would be glad to send in the forms for it, well to be precise courier it !!!!
What a smart solution.
Okay, my bro said,and asked for fresh set of forms.
My dear friends, this is July, I think my bro had spoken to the officer sometime in March, and the courier is yet to arrive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, sometime back, we again received a letter from the Citibank which said that my bros signature either differed or was not present in some documents ( sorry I don't remember which one was it).
So they had sent in some paper, wherein my bro was supposed to sign and send them back.
Well, this was news.
Earlier,according to one of the officers, the application
is not traceable, there is no communication from the bank
for a card applied last year, and now this letter !!!!!
Great !!!!!
Anyway,my bro still does follow the instructions.
Lets see what happens.
I must tell you that meanwhile,my bro applies for a credit with a different card, and gets it within about 15 days,
with the same set of documents sent to Citibank !!!!
What do you say !!!!!
Now,my friends, its quite sometime now that my bro had sent in those forms, but no news as yet from the bank !!!!!
Ha ! ha!! if I am right this bank has a punch line which says ''it never sleeps'' !!!!!
Isn't it hilarious !!!!!
I am surprised & angry at such services provided by a world class corporation.
Are we consumers to be taken for granted????
Herein,I must also tell you that my bro had applied for Times Card, which is also issued by Citibank, last year in
December.
But there is no news about this too !!!!
Is anything left to be said??????
After going through all these I have lost all faith , respect for Citibank & Citibank products.
At least with the Indian operations.
Meanwhile, I hope friends you all don't have to face such situations, specially with this bank , their services & their products.
