Selecting a sound system is more tougher than selecting your life partner(is it??) but they both are kinda similar. The question one shud ask is what I want from a sound system rather than what does it provides. Each ones expectations are different so each one requires a different one to suits his/her needs!(i think now you will understand why im comparing this with a life partner!)
I can clearly remember how I selected my girl friend.rather than looking at her and see what she has, I just saw her compatability and what she has in her heart coz I believe beauty doesnt do any good(but she must be presentable). But when I realised I found someone who is good in her heart and also looking cool, I decided she is the one for me!Now coming to the sound system selection, it is very similar to what ive done above....i want a sound system which gives me good output and should be capable of playing different formats like VCD Mp3 DVD(compatability!).....the looks doesnt matter to me!After all im gonna listen to the sound it produces, rather than its colorful spectrum.
Todays market is filled with lotsa Hi-Fi Mini component system, which is a crap.Makers like Sony, Aiwa, Samsung, Sharp, Thompson... are concentrating more on looks and clearly lacks in output, which is the most important thing in a sound system.Lets see why!First the speakers. The main speakers they provide produces good quality sound, but the satelite speakers they provide are crap!Being a sound engineer myself, I know exactly whts the purpose of those speakers and I found none produce wht they shoud be producing! They are just for show!Infact in sony the two main speakers produce very good sound. But when I decide to play a VCD and switch on the surround sound its a crap to hear!Second the components they use is of not high quality! So basically this is targeted to people who believes looks does matter. So simply call those beauties without brains!
Did u notice something missing in the makers list?I hope u did!Its Kenwood! If ur familiar with car audio systems, you wil be!This is the only system which differs slightly than the other mini component systems.I found the output very good. Not to mention its one of the cool looking systems around. The surround sound they produce is very good.So if looks does matter here is ur choice!
Then whats remaining for the serious listeners?i cant go and buy a bose?its way too expensive for me?afterall I listen to music for fun, im not a professional. If this is what ur screaming now, wait!.....im not gonna talk about bose coz there is something which produces good sound(than bose)and costs lesser than mini component systems! Its the Onkyo! The Japanese inovated surround sound system! This sound system has produced wide range of frequency than Bose making them to wonder.now what does it means? In studio we create sounds from 20 hz to 20, 000 hz.Onkyo covered almost the full range!Which means studio quality output. While we spend 1 lac INR for just two speakers for studio, the whole DVD surround sound sytem with five speakers cost under 38, 000 INR.The most impressive thing is u can customise your system according to ur needs and ur room sizes. This gives u the best sound which will suit ur style of listening.
I recommend u to go for Onkyo.it has a very neat and compact look with excellent output! If u feel its too heavy on ur pocket go for Synodyne. This produces good sound with comparitively low prices. So go and make a wise decission!
