Hi MS members,

This is a loooooong review. If you are in hurry, you may skip the first 3 para.

One unfortunate morning, when I was making pizzas(Yes, I do make wonderful pizzas) in my old oven, fumes started coming out of it suddenly and that obedient servant despite of its 5 years of great service was declared to be unsafe to operate and was abandoned. And it was also decided that we ought to buy a new generation microwave oven though we didn't really need one.

I was Mouthshut member already, so I promptly launched my browser(Opera, I've written a review about it even) towards'Choosing a microwave oven' section and carefully noted down the things to watch out for, namely: Size, Power levels, Turntable, Child lock, gifts etc etc. Thanks to Mouthshut for making my purchase a prudent one.

Well equipped with all the mouthshut knowledge, along with whatever little I already possessed as an electrical engineering student, I entered a showroom and the salesman was amazed at my intellectual ability, since I constantly bombarded him with technical questions about the power levels and what not.

Of all the models he showed, kenstar OM 26EGO passed with flying colors in all my tests and was instantly adopted by me. My tests were as follows:

Power test: Microwave should have at leasts 600 Watts of output power or you won't be able to cook large quantities of food quickly. Kenstar has 900 watts microwave gun.

Power levels: Depending on the quantity of food you must be able to adjust the power of your microwave. An oven which always runs at full power can scorch your stuff. Kenstar gives an option of 5 levels, pretty cool!

Grill:It's a must for pizzas, chicken etc. A pizza cooked in a solo microwave doesn't taste as good. I specifically wanted Grill option for I'm an ardent lover of pizzas. I didn't go for the more expensive'Convection' models as we don't make biscuits at home. And paying another 4000 bucks just for a stupid fan doesn't seem to be a wise action.

A solo microwave costs around 5000 to 7000 Rs.

Grill models will cost you 10, 000 to 12000. And Convection ones are priced at 14, 000 to even 30, 000 Rs.

My deal was set at 11, 000 Rs.

Gifts:This was perhaps the test in which Kenstar passed with such a high percentage that it quickly made me take the cheque off my pocket and finalise the deal. Kenstar comes with a nice tupperware dinner set which has: 2 lunch dishes, 6 small bowls, two glasses, A rice cooker, idli stand, 2 one large mixing bowl, three bowls with covers, two serving spoons, one twins i.e. flat lunch tiffin having two compartments. This set, worth Rs.1, 250/- was absolutely free. My mother was simply enchanted by that lovely dinner set.

Having scrutinized all these'results', I struck the deal and within 3 hours the delivery men delivered the oven at my home. It has been more than a month since then. I made pizzas, they were great. My mother cooked chicken yesterday. 1 Kg of chicken was completely cooked in about 20 mins. That was delicious too. Perfectly cooked from inside. We use the oven liberally to reheat rice, rotis, veg.curry etc and making coffee. It saves our time and cooking gas too. 3 cheers to Mouthshut!
