I live in smaller town of India and I have no alternative other than taking the BSNL connection, from very start of getting membership the experience is horrible.
It starts with arranging a application form. Four visits to their office with pan chewing clerk with an answer that come tomorrow, I had to dish out Rs 10/- for getting a form, quite complicated, fill and submit then wait, if lucky you will get a mile long computer print out with awfully written instructions, only good thing is you can set up off line, then when you start using it real night mare starts, numerous attempts to connect and then an awful looking black box poping up for user name and pass word and half of the time it wont take them, again disconnection repeat. Then reconnection every now and then. I have estimated that for an hour of surfing you have to spend four to eight hours if you are lucky. The speed may vary from 6000 to 40000 bps.
The matter does not end there suddenly you will find that it is not taking the password, it may get fixed up automatically and if you are unlucky you may have to apply and wait for even a month for resting your password, the renewal process is also very frustrating and time consuming.
