Chandramukhi Album Review

The most awaited album of the year Chandramukhi has finally released. After hearing the songs for couple of times, the music composed by Tamil Nadu’s numero uno composer Vidyasagar, seems to have struck the right chord!

Without delaying further here comes my views on Chandramukhi(CM).

Devuda Devuda

S P Balasubramaniam

Vaali

Devuda Devuda happens to be the introduction song of our Thailavar (Rajini). The Song starts in a gargantuan, gigantic way with rich instruments like trumpet and thankfully Vidyasag did not make the same mistake that rahman made of not using SPB for the title song! The music has Punjabi beats and it reminds me of Kodva Messai from Dhool and also of Radhai Malarey from Snehgideye.

The lyrics by Vaali will go very well with the masses. A typical lyric for a rajini song.

The song is instantly likeable and no doubt rajini’s favorite track of the album, and it would be a chartbuster.

Rating 4/5

Konja Nerum

Asha Bhonsle, Madhu Balakrishnan

Yugabharati

The songs start with a beautiful piano melody. A romantic number shot in turkey, Vidyasagar once again proves he is best in melody. Ashaji and Madhu have given their best! Good to hear Asha ji’s voice in a Tamil album. Lyrics by YugaBharati are very sweet and will appeal to every class. Another hit for Vidhyasagar and no doubt this is his favourite track of this album.

Athinthom

SPB

PA Vijay

This song is composed in a folk style and mainly aimed at rural audience. I should say it is a different type of song, the songs used to be composed early 90’s by IR for rajini’s films. The instruments used in this song like thavil with some decent lyrics by PA Vijay makes this song likeable! But its SPB who scores a perfect 10 for this song! Vidyasagar seems to have chosen right singers which rahman failed to do in Baba.

This song will find its share of audience in towns and rural aread

Rating 3/5

Kokku para para

Tipu, Manicka Vinayagam, Rajalakshmi

Na Muthu Kumar

This song will surely be a chartbuster and kids will like this song! Vidyasagar has composed in a simple manner yet effective. It has some mild beats which are good to hear. The lyrics are interesting it compares our life with flying kites. This song will be more splendid when screen on screen. The highlight of the song is the good vocals provided by the singers. Vidhyasagar has used the kids vocal in an effective manner. It enhances the song!

Rating 4/5

Raa Raa

Binni, Tippu

Bhuvanachandra

This one is a semi classical number. What makes this is song more interesting is its https://lyrics. Its not in Tamil. This song will be liked by those who love classical stuff! It is likely going to be skipped by ordinary mass. When played on theatre it will be the time for the mass for cigarettes!

The tune basically is good, but after some point of time it becomes very boring.

Good vocals from Binni and Tippu add charm to the song.

Rating 3/5

Annanoda Pattu

KK, Karthink, Sujata

Kabilan

How can a Tamil album be complete without Karhink’s voice? This song is extremely energetic, seems to be the last song of the film and it will go very well with the audience. Lively vocals from the singers bring more life to the song. The lyrics are adequate. Ipudu Chudoo dialogue from Rajini is amazing!!! A sure chartbuster!

Rating 4/5

On the whole, it will be fair to say Vidhyasagar has lived up to the expectations. A must buy for Rajini fans.

The cassettes and CD’s are already selling like hot cakes. It is estimated that around 2.5 lakh units will be sold before the film releases, which is quite a record since Tamil Music Industry is facing a threat from piracy.

Hope the film which is releasing on April 14th brings joy to the distributors!!
