Ok ok I know there have been lots of reviews posted on chak de ever since its release , but I cant resist myself & here I am joining the bandwagon too.
This movie is directed by Shimit amin , produced by Aditya Chopra & written by Jaideep sahni
Firstly I coudnt believe that it is a yash raj production , since yashraj is known for its romantic , lovey dovey movies. This movie doesnt even have a love scene or a love song in it inspite of having king khan in it , yet it has turned out to be an excellent movie
For those of you who are looking for a bollywood masala , spiced up with some item numbers & sleazy scenes & melodrama, you are in for a surprise
This is totally a "sports centric" movie & it just revolves around that. And SRK has given one of the best performances in this movie. He has emerged as an actor who can handle such roles with confidence & grace. For once we dont see him overdoing his role , like he does in all his romantic flicks. This movie doesnt have a leading actress showing herself in plain sari's or funky outfits inspite of being a yashraj production , but it has sixteen new girls who keep the movie going.
The film is sensitive, it takes you for a emotional ride , where at one point you feel certain kind of emotions for the players.
The girls have done a very good job. Specially the character komal played by Chitrashi Rawat is a sheer delight. Also other girls like Preeti Sabarwal (played by Sagarika Ghatge) , Bindya played by (Shilpa Shukla) , punjabi kuddi Balbir Kaur (played by Tanya Abrol) have contributed their cent percent to the film. The movie has a thread of constant humor in most of the scenes and u cant help but laugh out loud in some of the scenes.
As far as the plot is concerned , it is related to a real life story of a hockey player who was once convicted of match fixing & who emerged as a winner by coaching the indian hockey team to victory.
The movie kicks of with SRK playing for the world cup against pakistan. He fails to score a goal and is accused of match fixing by some faulty media people. He cannot digest this and disappears in the shadows. Fianlly after seven years he appears to train the indian women hockey team. He has only three months to train them & prepare them for the world cup.But the team is difficult to deal with. They have their own girlie fight's and individual differences.Inspite of all this he manages to erase their day to day frictions and instills discipline & determination in the team.
The girls have to play against the boys team in order to play for the world cup. They do not win but manage to give a tough fight against the boys. This is appreciated by the opp team & soon they find themselves flying to australia for the world cup.
Intially they lose miserably against australia , but gradually they start winning the matches n make their way to the finals. Wheter they win or not dat is for you to find out.

So to sum it up it is an excellent movie and for once you mite want to go for it the second time !
