Not a classic, not a typical rib-tickler that will make u go mad but good enough to keep u stick to the comfortable multiplex seats. Bunty aur bubly is a completely new take on youths, hailing form small towns, indulging in crimes as grave as duping and thuggery. And it may be for the first time that a Bollywood movie is showing its protagonists taking to the route of crime just for the sake of fun and not for the hardship that drove them into the darkness of crime. The movie is a story of two small town youths, who are so completely enamoured by the glitz and glamour of metropolitant life style, that is so shamelessly presented by both television and the newspapers. However, their over ambitious dreams and desires don't get the approval of their parents, who like most of the parents, want their wards to remain rooted to the ground. Fed up of constant nagging and dressing downs by their parents, these two young dreamers decide to escape from the narrow lanes of their dusty towns into the world of their own. And as the luck has it, the two stumble upon each other and after few hitches and failures, they plan to completely shed the 'inhibitions' that was keeping them from making it big. And then begins the story of `adventures' of the two, where they defy law, make idiot out of people and mint some easy money. And once the lure of lucre overpowers them completely, they become professional dupers with their new acquired identity Bunty aur Bubly. However, as every evil must be brought down to an end, the two `devils' meet their nemesis in Amitabh Bacchan, a rustic and boorish police officer, who bring them to law and scour the devil out of them. The movie in the first half is bit boring with few good moments that come in snatches. However, with the advent of the second half as also of Amitabh Bacchan and the chor-police ka game, the movie picks up and give those paisa wasool moments. Music hasn't been extraordinary and to be precise not that good but for the title track and the Aishwarya item no. Abhishek comes of age and as quite often said in the past has polished his acting skills. Rani may not be in her best but was cool and for the Big B all I cud say is that thanx to his antics he carried the movie smoothly into audiences heart. All in all, its a movie that though lack the magical touch of Chopras but sure has the tickle to bring a few good smiles on your face. Go to the theatre, spread out ur legs (if at all there is any leg space), relax and enjoy the movie. It' worth spending few bucks on the movie!
