For me, to own a BULLET ELECTRA and not write a review on it would be somewhat criminal - as I go on and on to friends about how good my bike is.
I bought my BLACK(acually a very dark metallic green) Electra-2004(that's the official model number) in May 2005. Since then(it is Dec 2007 now) - I have done about 26, 000 Kms; primarily within the confines of Gwalior and Delhi; and I have the following facts to submit:-
TROUBLE/PROBLEMS:- Well the bike has given me the u/m trouble. I must admit, none of it is major; but does warrant attention:-
BRAKES - I've changed the rear shoes twice and the front ones once. Make sure you get the original variety(plenty of fakes around), they last long.
SUSPENSION- Front fork springs have been overhauled once. no problems since.
HEAD GASKET - Changed once.
SPARK PLUGS - not changed, however require cleaning.
REAR BACKREST - the orignal isn't good. get it changed after a year - it tends to rust and break.
GOOD THINGS -
The paint job is excellent, and if you take good care(regular polishing with WAXPOL should do) it will last more than 3 years(mine's still going very strong) without a trace of fading. maybe much longer.
The chrome job, too, is par excellence. Regular chrome powder polishing is a must to keep it gleaming.
Battery(SF) is very good and 2-3 years is what you can expect.
Headlight - the new reflector looks cheesy and can easily be replaced with the old rounded one.
Engine - OLD CAST IRON BLOCK - still the BEST. beats the MACHISMO aluminium one hollow!
Silencer - LONG ONE looks good but the thump is missing. Easily Changed.

GO FOR IT.
