For people with an appetite for Tandoori food, this could be your heaven.
This restaurant is placed inside the Maurya Sheraton hotel, with a poolside view. The ambience is that of an outdoor log house with the seating and the tables designed with wooden logs cut in the shapes desired according to the seating space. Another uniqueness of this place is that they have glass windows for the kitchen so while you are waiting for your food to arrive, you can look at the art of making the 'naan' by the chefs. The cutlery is also made of brass with a rough finish to complete the authenticity of an outdoor log house. They do not even provide spoons along with the main course.
The cuisine is actually THE BEST I have EVER had for the Northern Indian Tandoori palate. The most famous and the winner of the best Dal makhani award is the 'Dal Bukhara' and rightfully so. This dal is actually prepared in 24 hrs as it is cooked on a slow fire. It is definitely rich and scrumptious. For vegetarians, a must try would be the 'Tandoori phool' and 'Paneer Tikka'. The 'Tandoori phool' is cauliflower prepared on a tandoor with different seasonings. And ‘Paneer Tikka’ is again baked cottage cheese with lots of onions, green pepper and tomatoes.
For anyone with a taste for boneless chicken, if you haven't tried the 'Murgh Malai Kebab’ (Chicken boneless Kebabs), you haven't lived your life as yet.
The service is also very appreciative. The waiters are dressed in a typical pathani suit in colors blending with the ambience.
The place is definitely a must visit, though with a few drawbacks to it. First of all, any given day, with or without reservation one has to wait at least 30 minutes to be seated. Then, they do not allow kids less than 7 yrs of age to enter. Thirdly, even though justified to each an every penny, it is still a lavish affair... its expensive. So you can visit this heavenly place on Earth only once in a moon blue.
But still my advice to all you good food lovers is to visit the place at least once. Bon A petit!!
