I am a customer of BSNL mobile services for the last 10 years. Initial 5 years was ok, the only negatives then were lack of plans, delay of implementing 3g services and almost non existent customer call centre.
The first and third are currently solved.
3g was implemented and then the trouble started.
Intially it was good. too good, a monthly plan was there which gave enough data for a medium user like me. call rates were low and I remember people migrating to bsnl from other networks. This was about 3 years back
Then out of blue for no apparent reason ( something to do with jio I guess, just rumours) , the data speed was restricted, even speeds were less than 2g speeds and call drops also increased rapidly. Even when calls connected voice clarity was too poor. I temporarily adjusted by using my second sim and the call clarity was apparent.
Then I got transfer and reached mangalore, it is when BSNL proved that things could be worse. Data is almost sometimes non existent. Voice calling is even worse. Call almost never connects an call drops are part and parcel of every call.
You may ask why I haven't done number porting. Something to do with not being someone interested in changes and some kind of loyalty for a network that has given me sone good service for some 8-9 years.
But then this black out occured 1 week back. No network for half a day and when it was back no apologies or info from bsnl. This was really worrying as my bsnl number is my offical one and not having even connectivity for 10 min lest half a day is quite scaring.
Also the problems have existed for more than a year now. Now I don't believe tgey are going ti rectify the problems. My second number is that if Airtel. Their 4g services and plans are currently good, eventhough data speed is nothing to boast about. I am currently planning to port my primary number also to airtel too
Bye bye BSNL.
