When one thinks of Goa...its all about great beaches..great food n drinks...and sheer indulgence...doing nothing...and if there's one place where you can do all of this at one go..its Brittos!
When!
Britto's at night has been amply covered...here's a not so usual time to visit-Afternoons..and i'd higly reccomend this-u beat the crowds n the long wait...and the added bonus of being able to spend the afternoon on the beach without getting burnt!
Where! and How!
Head on down to Baga...and you can't miss Britto's...its ethnic chic decor and al fresco dining(albeit with thoughtfully placed netting overhead...giving u that much needed shade while ur feet sink into the cool sand underneath)...its location is nothing short of idyllic...sea front...on the beach...a few yards from the watersports and sun umbrellas...go sun yourself..take a break at brittos..go back for more sun n sports..return to brittos for a drink...u get the picture!!
What to eat!
The Pork Vindaloo is to die for...just the right mix of tang n spice in a rich red curry..mopped up with light sannas(goan/mangalorean idlis)...
Order the Chicken cafreal but ask for it dry...the version here tends to go heavy on the herbs and not too spicy...but is nice nonetheless...
And never ever leave brittos without ordering their Beef Chilly Fry..this is one dish done to death across the country in a myriad forms...but this is the best version i've tasted...comes with potatoes n tomatoes n capsicum n thing long shreds of beef in a smooth sauce...a perfect accompaniment to any drink!
While you wait!
Once you've ordered step over to the little 'tattoo' shop set on a corner of Britto's and get yourself a henna tattoo...good way to kill time!
The Finale!
You may feel like a beached whale and never want to leave Britto's after you have gorged on all that Goan food...but don't even think about getting up until you've had their desserts...we tried the Alpine mousse that came highly reccomended(it had a subtle flavour of rum in the choc...cant go wrong with that!)..and if you're too stuffed for dessert...just give in to the light n not too sweet tiramisu...perfect...
Linger!
At britto's they're used to people hanging around long after their meal is done..so don't feel obliged to rush off as soon as youre done with your meal...linger on....
How much?
We paid Under Rs 500/- including drinks, starters and dessert for a meal for two.
PS:
Restrooms are hard to find when all you have are miles of beaches...but Britto's has a good facility...nothing snazzy..but will do..and you just might need it after all that glugging!!
