Hi all,
I haven't travelled much....and BA from Chennai to Chicago with a break at London Heathrow was my first......... One word sums it all.... BA sucks.
The only good thing abt BA was that they were on time for both the flights..... mmmm...they'd better be !
Tourist buses have better seating arrangements than in BA. I am not very tall.....5' 11'' to be precise. I wasn't even able to sit comfortably without cramping my legs. I pity the 6 footers.......... you people will have one hell of a ride on-board BA !!!!
Discrimination based on skin color is soooo obvious in-flight. I am not dark....a bit on the fairer side. I think the Londoners still have the feeling that they were once the rulers of India and we were the slaves.
Chennai to London:
After about four hours of the journey, I tried to walk up the aisle to the open space near the rest-room where we have a good view outside the plane. I was shocked when a hostess talked to me so rudely and asked me to go back to my seat immediately !!! I still cannot believe a hostess talked to me like that aboard a plane !
A couple of hours later, When I asked for a few chocolates, I was given a curt NO MORE CHOCOLATES reply !
I was rudely asked to return the headsets even though I was having it in my hand, ready to give it to them. I guess they have a feeling that we steal headsets from them. And beware, the headsets SUCK ! I will not even call them stereo headsets...sounded more like monos ! In-flight Entertainment was okay. Saw Finding Nemo ( my travel was in Dec 2003........so it was one of the latest movies).
London to Chicago:
Food was horrible. Too bland. Got a couple of Russian girls as friends on aboard....so, I mamaged to ignore the darker side of the flight.
I got pissed off when they offered the same set of movies on my London-Chicago flight ! Even the music channel was the same ! I had to see Finding Nemo all over again !
The landing at Chicago O'Hare International Airport was a night mare ! I thought BA crew were well-experienced. The flight almosted skidded twice ( I could hear the skidding noise ) on the runway before it steadied its course and jolted to a halt.
Phew !! End of Journey !
I am going to India in December. I have avoided BA altogether even though I have to take a break to see my sister in London for a week and other carriers charge a hefty tax for such breaks. I am flying on United Airlines from Chicago to London and London-Colombo-Chennai on AirLanka. I am seeing soo many favorable reviews on AirLanka and I am happy abt my choice. Lets see how AirLanka fares !
