I have had a brief introduction to Brisbane Airport so I will tell you what I know.

The single most useful piece of information is how to get into the city from the airport.

There are shuttles, taxis and a regular train service and of course, a few of the Rental Car agencies have desks at the airport ARRIVALS area.

We arrived late at night and found it easier all round to get take a taxi to our (previously booked ) hotel.

This cost about $20 ( australian ) but there were a couple of shuttle buses at the main exit that would have been cheaper. It would have taken longer though as they would be dropping people here and there as you go.

Once we had got to know our way around Brisbane a bit better we decided the best way to get back to the airport for our flight home was to take the train.

This was the most efficient and cost effective way to go at $9 per person from the city centre to the airport.

The main station is the TRANSIT CENTRE in the central city.

From here you can organise tours, accommodations, rental cars and just about anything else a traveller needs.

There is an extensive food court selling every type of hot, cold food imaginable. You can shower, store luggage, send e-mails , you name it,its all here.

Being centrally located you can walk to your hotel or back packers from here or catch one of the taxis that are lined up at the main entrance.

If you are wanting to head straight to the Gold Coast, the train is the best way to go. It runs twice an hour from the Gold Coast to the airport and 4 times an hour from Brisbane city to the airport.

The airport experience itself wasn't to bad. I found all the staff we dealt with , from immigration through to the shop assistants to be very friendly and helpful.

Check-in was a breeze, the one negative was that our flight was delayed ( due to fog at our destination) and we spent slightly longer there than anticipated.
