I know im writing review for this album abit late (2 years roughly), its worth writing now when Tamil Music Industry is full of non-quality songs type.2005 saw many,actually majority Remake movies,non-quality songs/album,except a few like Albums from both the Maestros. Even after 2 years,Boys album feels fresh,and much much much quality than 2005's music.Im proud that A.R.Rahman Provided his superb music for Dir Shankar and they will be back in action with SHIVAJI after a gap with Anniyan,which was composed by Harris Jeyaraj.Now to mention about Boys album, here it goes :
1.Girlfriend - (Karthik, Tippu, Timmy) lyrics: Pa Vijay
The song starts with Karthik humming '' Indre,Indre, Indre, Venum,'' and a heavy beat blasting our speakers.Nothing can be better than explaining about today's Boy's taste on music + with girlfriend.Many youthful words was used, like we need a girlfriend to send sms,or just chit chating with her ignoring time,etc etc.Inbetween we can listen to amazing works with electric guitar which amazes us that we have these kind of music in Tamil Music.The minus point in this song as usual music is louder than words.Eventhough its not a favourite of mine,this song stands out!It was picturised well,but certain scene offended many viewers,becareful shankar!

2.Dating - (Blaaze, Vasundhara Das) lyrics: Pa Vijay
Here comes my most favourite song from this album,why,even my most favourite from ARR-Shankar combo.Its a mixture or carnatic tune with modern beats.And as everyone know,its A.R.Rahman's ground alright.As we can listen, the song is balanced between English lyric & Tamil Lyric. The male singer asking her to love,and the female singer declining it.Reminds you of a song? Yes,Shakalaka Baby from Mudhalvan,but the other way round.We hardly can find these kind of song in tamil too.The line '' I dont wanna love,I dont wanna love, Love is not a game, Love is not a game'' using the carnatic style,is just mind blowing!! Vasundra Dass again created magic with ver husky voice & her superb pronounsation in Tamil & English.Blaaze in the other hand,lol,English is his best,and tamil a little difficult to catch up.Lyrics is youthful ofcource,and easy to humm.I just have 1 word for this song, M-A-G-I-C!If it wasnt for Ravi K. Chandran's amazing camera work,the picturisation would look plain.

3.Boom Boom - Boom Boom (Adnan Sami, Sadhana Sargam, A R Rahman) lyrics: Kapilan
Song starts with a weird sound,some said its knocking sound,but I my self not sure what it is.Lol.The beats r fresh,new,never heard before in tamil songs before.(I can still say this even now,2005).Then comes Adnan Saami with his '' Boom Boom Shakakhan'' which is definetly catchy & new.Sadhana Sargam as always giving her best for A.R.Rahman.Adnan Saami definetly drowned the tamil words badly,even I cant understand what was he saying in the charanam untill I saw the https://lyrics.But his voice is just suitable for the song.You will definetly agree with me once you have listened to Boom Boom In Telugu which has Udit Narayanan.Sounded really weird.The song had beautiful meaning,and one line still steady in my mine '' Azhuvitta mambalathil,iru vanndhugal naamthan'' .When lovers using '' Your my Beautiful rose '' ,these couple using a spoilt fruit. Different Indeed.The song ends with a different way too,with the pace of the song going faster & faster and suddenly it finishes with Adnan Saami's giggle.Who can think of this except A.R.Rahman. Shankar,are you reading THIS?I felt the picturisation was too messy & looks very crumpled up.Costumes were a major highlight!

4.Secret of Success - (Lucky Ali, Blaaze, Vasundhara Das) lyrics: Vaali, Blaaze
Starts with '' Say Sa, Re,Ga Mea,'' '' Mea WHAT?'' And '' Ohhhhh Oh'' and a music starts with electric guitar.Definetly inpired Shankar to use it for Kadhal Yaanai - Anniyan.Overall its a song to evoke youths to persue on thier dreams/interest.It also says ''Mistakes are the secret of Success'',just mindblowing.With good english lyrics,simple tamil lyric by Vaali,the song has become the song of the album,and YEAR 2003.Vasundra Dass again at her best for Shankar-ARR combo.Great song with youthful beats & words.Amazing theme & message in this song.Very very very rare to see songs like this release in tamil industry.Another gem of ARR!Great sets & camera work!

5.Ale Ale - (Karthik, Chitra Sivaraman) lyrics: Kapilan
The Best combo again in action ( Karthik & Chitra Sivaraman ).Never listened to a female voice which really suited Karthik's voice.These voices are just perfect.Ok well,the song starts with new beats,pinning our speakers,and you just can feel that instrument is twisting our eardrums.A weird song overall.When 1st time I listened to it I was shocked,because it sounded so plain for a Shankar film.But now I realised,its the best!!Trust me when I say,the more you listen to A.R.Rahman's music,the more you will love it.Lyrics were very simple and meaningful,but sounded quite funny at some part like '' Kaakai maiyila mariyathe'' .Amazing music & tune.The part which really made my heart went round & round was the part '' Kadhal sonna ganame,athe kadavule kanda ganame,katrai parakathu maname...'' this line will be sung by the chorus in a diff tune while Karthik & Chitra will sing in the normal tune.[ 5:14 - 2:36].Also the part Chitra will sing '' kagitham yen mel parantathum,athe kavithai nool indre marithathe'' along with the violin playing. Just mind blowing!! I just felt I was floating on the air at that part!Picturisation was 1 of the best in this film too with the time slice method used!

6.Break The Rules - (Karthik, Kunal, George, Anupama, Sunitha) lyrics: Vaali
What a song!!! It explained so well about what normally happens with today's youth! Vaali a 70 y/o man can write a song like this...just Amazes me!! Music as usual youth & happening.When they go '' Break The Rules'' You just feel like getting up & screaming '' Oh Yeah!!!'' I nearly did that when I was in the teather watching the movie.Lol! The song gives u that much of impact.The line '' Kadhil Valaiyum Potta Tappu'' just reminds me of latest song,it sounded very close,to be specific the line '' Kaadhal Yaanai Varigire Remo'' - Anniyan!Anyways,the song is just mind blowing & you just cant stop singging along.The electric guitar is just simply amazing!! Anumapa's voice is just so striking u cant miss it. The last part when it goes BREAK THE RULES with that last heay beat & the camera effects gives u a goosebumps.A.R.Rahman is just the BEST! The picturisation was amazing,using 500 dancers & the jail prisoner costume theme type (black & white).Just telling we youths are prisoners with all the rules by Parents.Great work overall!!

7.Please Sir - (Kunal, Clinton, Charan, Chinmayee) lyrics: Vaali
A short song with good vocal arrangements by Clinton.Chimnayi's voice is just too sweet to hate it.The way she sings is just like really begging in a sweet manner.I really salute to her singging talent.Lyrics is simple & direct to the point asking the Sony Manager to sign them for an album.When the song ends with Chinmayi saying '' Please Sir',u just feel the pain along. Just marvelous! Short & Sweet.It was picturised just suitable as what it its.
Its 100% an album for Youths by A.R.Rahman.What more do you want from Shankar-A.R.Rahman combo ? A perfect album with fresh beats,lyrics & style.Cant wait for Shivaji,where Shankar-A.R.Rahman-Vairamuthu Combo is back again after Mudhalvan (1999).Be prepare for a bigger pack of surprise than Boys (Lyrics wise) & Anniyan (music wise)!!!
