The motto for upgrading your cdma bb should be'out of the frying pan and into the fire!'

I had to upgrade my 8703e [which was also reviewed on MS in aug'09] so I was constrained tocdma only with b.e.s. [bb enterprise server] for my office mail [lotus notes] to work on it. obviously I would have never wasted money on such old tech but the prev handset was freezing up routinely [battery had to be taken out weekly and ittook 8-9 min for full reboot / update!] and with over 3k sms and over 1k mails it was reaching its limits. the'new' curve alreadyfroze up in the 1st week of use and took over 5 min to restart! so that's twice as fast for bb I suppose. my mistake before buying it was I forgot to ask if it had 3g! we take it for granted in smartphones at half the price that I never realised it was 2g only.

when I complained to customer care that the'true caller' app was not working since it required 3g or wifi, they explained it was a 2g handset.

That's what you get when you go for the cheapest bb available which would explain why the company is dead globally. since the qwerty keypad is smaller than my prev bb, I get more strain on my thumbs which is always bad since I use a 4" android ics for my gsm [rs. 7k with 5mp camera] and the cdma bb for typing / outgoing sms or mail since my larger fingers don't work on the tiny touchscreen keyboards [unless its a 7-9" sized display for tablets]. the back cover to access the battery is very hard to open unless you have long nails - the older one was much better [push and slide] - I have to use tweezers to pop open the case which is bad design [despite having a notch on the bottom] there seems to be no built in setting for a blank background / black image so I had to take a photo in the dark [no flash built in of course] and use it as my'wallpaper' - kind of stupid but there is no choice. The bright default images make it very hard to read the white text on the home screen [also dumb].

The battery also runs out much faster on the curve [daily charging] compared to the older model [2 days of normal use] - but compared to my karbonn its still better [the a9+ barely lasts 10-12 hours with minimal use]

Thanks for nothing research in motion! Should have been renamed to 'research in morons'.

Yes, I know its bad grammar but if apple can have'think different' then i'm entitled to molest the English language also!
