I liked this movie Black and White. It is very simple yet very much touching and well crafted film. Yes some parts are a bit slow in going, but the plot itself will make you sit along eagerly and watch. People who love serious kind of movies will love this.
Story line is not that complicated, person from Afghanistan who has this very rough childhood, seen all that bombing and burning of houses, joins jehadi group since childhood, film stars with our main character who is taking oath in Afghanistan to bomb the Red Fort in 15th August. He lands in India with change in name and identity with some help from a local MLA and a rich Muslim businessman helping the group.
This person is very fanatic who is very much devoted to his task. He cannot tolerate people who don't follow or insult ISLAM rules, even such that he even shoots his own team mate for having drunk and openly admitting it.
In India he meets a hindu professor(Anil Kapoor) who is URDU lecturer in a college. Anil and his wife are very famous people who bond all the people living with them in Chandni Chowk Delhi. They solve all the social problems and try hard to bring in unity among Hindus and Muslims. Our main character is told to befriend them so that police doesn’t suspect him. In course of doing so he sees the true India in Chandni Chowk through the eyes of Anil and his wife, how they thrive to bring in peace among the mohalla, His eyes sort of change when Shefali who is shot by the same group of our Main Character, and Anil Kapoor tries to hide the truth fearing that this would lead to backlash between Hindu and Muslim group, that moment really shocks and in his heart he feels for the strong belief that Anil has in his mind. He drops his plan and runs away just in the nth hour… But Anil is caught by the police and arrested, people in chandni chowk are shocked but they have belief in him, he is been asked why he didn’t allow police to kill the terrorist, he replies back, “thing is that people who have given him wrong preaching to an extent that he became a suicide bomber, at least we converted his mindset about Jihad and wrong doing, he has learnt the force of unity and went, if they have taught him the lesson of hatred, we have relied back and made a person go with good teaching”
Very good message and not that shouting and bloodshed but simplistic approach, yet lot to memorize. Performance wise Anurag shines as terrorist is acted very well, Anil also has put his heart out in the role, others are all OK, Background song “Mein Chala” runs you through the story of Anurag’s childhood, very well executed song.
