My visit yesterday was an eye opener. I made purchase from Banashankari store in Bangalore and found that I have been over billed. At the store itself on one of the item there was over charging (25% over retail MRP). I called the store manager, I was told it was a data entry problem, and I am okay with things because mistakes do happen.

I went home and to my surprise, I was over billed on another item (20% over MRP rate). I called the store manager, and seeing my number on his cell phone, he did not pick/answer the phone. I called the help desk and they gave me the complaint number (do not know how complaint number can be in 3 digits!!). I called up the Bangalore regional office, there was no one to attend my problem because it is an accounts office (wonder why they have to give useless numbers on the

printed receipts).

I fail to understand...

a. Why is it that the machines at the POS do not have display facing customer. How do you expect the customer at the POS to scan through the printed receipt for prices? Is it not too easy to sneak in a mistake or two in the bill for the unsuspecting customer?

b. If on every bill there is an average mistake of 1-2%, why is Pantaloon corporate audit not picking this up? Is this not unethical. How is the mistake always a markup to retail prices

c. If there is mistake in billing, you have to make a return and take store credits (which have 15 days validity. ) Howz that?

d. There is no complaints redressal system. there is a diary kept where he complaints are recorded. There is no number which can be used for tracking. Is this all not very convinient for Big Bazaar? Can't the page be torn off and then claim innocence when the matter is taken up?

Overall, I think I have had enough of big bazaar. What the left hand giveth, the right hand taketh away on the sly.
